May 4 Update

Dear AAPK Community,

We sincerely apologize for the recent outage and the inconvenience it has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unexpected disruption.

What Happened?

On the early morning of May 1st, AAPK experienced a significant system failure due to a hard drive crash—the first in our 20 years of operation. Our team responded promptly to restore services:

• Forums: The forums have been restored, but are currently restricted to control server traffic, they will be fully operational soon. Please note that posts made between April 23rd and the restoration are unfortunately lost due to the last backup being dated April 23rd.
• Stores: The stores are back online, fully functional. We have emailed all sellers affected by this incident with specific details, and as a gesture of goodwill, we are waiving all commissions for May.

Steps We Are Taking:

• Immediate Actions: We are prioritizing the resolution of any residual issues such as missing images or posts. Should you encounter any anomalies, please report them to outage@allaboutpocketknives.com.
• Long-term Improvements: We are committed to learning from this incident. A Post-Incident Review (PIR) will be conducted to analyze the root causes, impacts, and corrective actions. This review will help us strengthen our systems and prevent future occurrences.

Monthly Giveaways Update:

- April Giveaway: Despite the outage, if you entered the giveaway before the disruption, you are still in the running for the Bear and Son 2015 Trapper and Moore Maker Trapper #5160LB donated by Reverend Scott Kirby. The winner, based on the Illinois State Lottery evening pick-three on April 30th, will be announced shortly by Tom (bestgear).

- May Giveaway: Exciting news ahead! Brent Eresman (Beresman) is generously donating a Case XX model 6375 stockman, a Boker USA model 1786, and a Bertram Cutlery Hen & Rooster congress knife, Model 324C-LB. Stay tuned for the contest details to be posted by Tom (bestgear).
