Re: Camillus 72 Clones

Life and work have been keeping me busy, but the important part is I'm still out scouring your local basements, attics, garage sales, and flea markets. Gotta find this stuff one way or another. Even when I bought the knife I thought "Jerry would want to see a picture of this one." Lol, eve...

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups

Picked this up a few months ago but didn't really look at it too much. A Case Tested XX stamping I don't see very often. The scales are a black plastic much like the rough black. I think this was one of Case's "economy" offerings at the time. Never used and still has factory edge. Anyone h...

Re: Clean or leave alone???

i personally would never "clean" a knife. i will remove active rust and oil that is about it.

removing material or metal in order to make it "shiny" wipes the value right off the knife.

the amount of buffed knives on ebay brings me to tears.

Re: Jack Knife Shop

Yes, the knife was cleaned. Schrade usually only polished the crocus side on the main blade and in the Cut Co. period would sometimes just glaze the crocus side on the main blade. Someone definitely hit the knife with the buffer pretty heavily.

I loved the first book, is there that much more info in the second edition? Are the added knives in the new book for older XX knives or post XX knives?

Re: Robeson "Cock Spur" Jack Knife

If you look at 8th picture the backspring is dipping quite a bit below the frame of the knife. This immediately makes me weary of this NYK Co. I think this one is cobbled.

What does everyone else think?

It sold for $598.88. I saved some pictures of it because I didn't know what to think of it.

From the pictures, it looks like it may be just about the same size as the Badger Knife Show in Janesville WI. Might be just a tad smaller than Janesville. I guess you'd have to count tables to know for sure. Sure wish I could have gone, even if all I did was meet AAPK members. you should come out ...

Re: Renaissance

I use Ren-Wax religiously. It is great at preventing and stopping active rust. I apply it on my minty specimens at least twice a year. So far it has done its job.

I wouldn't say that is "polishes" the knife, but it does preserve and protect knives from moisture.
