Wow, this guy beats all I've ever seen. Some really pretty knives though, honestly. I especially love them "Hawbackers" he's got. ::dang:: Even the factory 2nd Green Bone, that he sorta forgot to mention.

Actually, it could be the finest example of ignorance is bliss. Or maybe not. ::sneaky::

This is interesting........
Quote:
Pre 1940 Case Tested XX Stag Trapper Collector's Grade! Knife has been professionally cleaned and you can see some buffing marks but with the Age Consideration I am still calling it MINT

However, he says;
Quote:
Mint Condition: Knives that have been lightly handled, cannot have beenb used, carried, or sharpened. Most often in original packaging with the exception of older knives. Knives in this category are generally flawless but must be given age consideration For 1970 10 dots and Older.

I guess "Pro cleaning" doesn't factor into being messed with............ :?

The "Age Consideration" takes priority at ALL times. ::barf::

and it can be yours for only $2K ::doh::

That trapper's problem is not buffing, it's those stag handles, and probably other things as well. I just don't believe that Case ever used stag that thick back in the Tested era. I am no Case expert by any means but I just don't believe that knife.

I know squat about Case, but the tang stamp looks strange to me.
It looks like the A was cut up into the circle of the C.

When comparing it to the Tested stamp shown in the Research section of AAPK, it appears the A is farther out of the C, while the stamp shown in the Research Section is almost totally inside the C.

I don't know if I explained that well, but if you compare them, you can see what I am saying.
As I said I don't know much about Case but the tang stamps don't look right to me.

Sorry fellas, I been making light of the situation, & not explaining anything. Those are called Hawbaker Muskrat's not "Hawbacker's". Stanley Hawbaker & Sons, a trapping supply company had those made as SFO's (special factory order). The etch on the blade should read "Hawbaker's Special" & "Improved Muskrat". But with it being buffed off, he evidently made this blunder without doing any research.

This one that I was referring to:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-Case-XX-Hawbac ... 1e58f3d406

Also has the "c" in Case marked out, meaning that it was a factory 2nd & something wasn't up to par quality wise.

That trapper is not the real article in any way shape or form. It's not even a Case period. I'd hate to know I spent $2000 dollars on that. The pillbusters are a POS as well, pretty or not.

The trapper's shield is wrong for a Tested era Case. It should have a closed "C" style shield, that's the red flag on those Tested he has up for auction.

Yep, the shield is wrong along with the rest of the knife...lock stock and barrel. Likely started out as a Queen #19

By the way not all tested era knives have the closed "C" some authentic tested knives will have the open "C" and tall "S" (XX era shield). The open "C" and short "S" like on the trapper in the auction is wrong for the tested era.

Hay BR, These fakers are so focus on the new collector that they will even make a fake Case Trapper with the pull on the wrong side of the spay. And then ask 2K for it.
