Scott; I have the same knife, only has a bail. I got it from Steve, and he said it was the smallest
case knife made, at 1 3/4". It too has no model number. I am sure it is right. Hopefully Steve
will be along and he can confirm it.

Scott:

That tang stamp just doesn't look right to me. It looks like someone made it with an engraver. Maybe I'm wrong but it just looks really weird, not crisp like it should. JMHO.

Scott it looks fine to me. I'd expect a stamp that looks to be about 1/8" wide to look a little funky.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

My guess is it is real. Nobody would try to take apart a pearl knife that size for what it's worth. Also tested use no pattern numbers from what I've read.

Scott; That book you sent me says Case didn't start with the model numbers 'til 1949.

Where's the center pin? Was that a skeleton pattern? I wonder if those bolster pins go all the way through. At first glance I thought for sure it was a glued on re-handle.

Looks fine to me - as Phin said it is a small pattern with no known pattern #. I have had several, and usually the stamps do look poor. All of the others that I have seen have had bails but it looks as if that one was made with no bail. Some Case pearl patterns (like the 8261 and 82053) were made with a hidden center pin like that.

Scott; Got the knife as was packing for Oregon, perfect time! Must say you ship fast! You know the knife
is rare when Steve gives his blessing and it is the first he has seen! Will try to send pictures of the two, with
bail and without bail, when I get back from up north for me. Sure is a beautiful little bugger!
Thanks

Scott,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. Needed to ask for help (again) on how to post the pictures.

You will see the knife you have alongside mine with the bail. Also I included a tweezers knife that has no pattern number either.

All of the knifes are authentic.
