Tank Needs Help!
Some of you may know Anthony Meeks (handle: Tank) from this forum- he’s an avid knife collector and history buff- he has over 400 knives (I’m jealous!).
What you may not know is that he has Advanced Lou Gehrig’s disease and is completely paralyzed except for a little movement of his head and face. He surfs the knife forums and types by way of a special computer that tracks his head movements.
You may also not know that despite being paralyzed, on a feeding tube and ventilator, Tank was recently kicked off of his insurance (TennCare). Yes, the bastards dropped a completely helpless human being from insurance coverage. As a result, his survival now depends on his friends, family, volunteers and benefits we put on to raise enough money to buy nurses.
We are putting on a Motorcylcle Ride for Tank on June 19th in Pickwick, TN. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pag ... 486?ref=ts
If you’re a biker and want to participate, email me or my wife at [email protected] for more details. Do the same if you want to enter a drawing (at $1 per chance) to win a Dragonfly Katana donated by Cold Steel (http://www.coldsteel.com/dragonflysword.html) or if you just want to donate money or buy T-shirts.
Thanks a bunch- please help your brother in arms…

Re: Tank Needs Help!
Tank (Anthony) was one of the first people I got aquainted with here on AAPK. He has been nothing but a gentleman in every interaction I have had with him. I have missed seeing his post here lately and was afraid that his health had taken a downward turn. I miss reading his post and the wisdom, kindness, and insight he brought to this forum.
I want to put forth a challenge to all of you members of AAPK. I'm going to send to Tank the price of the next knife I would have bought to help him with his expenses. I challenge each of you folks to do the same. I don't need another knife, but he needs our help. It's really just that simple. Knowing Tank, I'm confident in saying if the roles were reversed he would be one of the first to step up and lend a hand to you.
If anyone wishes to make a contribution, send me a PM and I will provide you with his mailing address.

edit: If you will scroll down about midway on this thread you'll find a picture of Tank.

I was waiting for someone to respond to this post.
Didn't know if legit, or not.
Put me on board, Phil, that is a great idea.
Would you PM that info, and I will donate.

Re: Tank Needs Help!
Excellent idea,Phil. Tank and I exchanged knives in a round table a couple of years back. He is a real nice guy. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's size 12s here but TJ is donating a knife to auction off for Tank on the Thurs. auction and I will also.
So be at the auction on Thursday to help a friend and get some nice knives.

Re: Tank Needs Help!
Hi Phil and the rest of my AAPK family. Yes, sadly it's legitimate. Here is the ride's main page. http://tankmeeks.com/. The facebook group is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Anthony-T ... 486?ref=mf. Heres a brief youtube that was on local stations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtjZgAQl3Hk. I'm sorry my interaction on the forums has been sparse. My schedule and priorities changed drastically when I lost my 24/7 nursing. I lurk when I get time. Words can't convey how much what you guys are doing for me means. Thank you so much.

Tank, It may not seem so at times but Jesus knows all about it. One day if we follow him this will be all over. My wifes grandmother use to say. (This to shall pass). I will remember you in prayer.

Tank, I'm adding you're web links under my signature in all of my outgoing e-mails to help spread the word! I have many friends whom are bikers and won't miss a chance to help a fellow man. Just the ride from N.C. to Tenn. is a pleasure in itself, and the cause is what will be at the helm

Re: Tank Needs Help!
I am always amazed by the brotherhood here. As someone who had some health issues last year, it is good to know there are people who care.
Your benefit ride is on my b-day, maybe that's a good omen. Hope that is a huge success. Left a little something in your PP account.
Wish you the best.
Glenn

Re: Tank Needs Help!
Thank all of you so much for your prayers and generosity. Your generosity has made me speechless. I find it so encouraging that the knifing community will spring so fast into action to help a fellow member in need. I will be sending out thank you's to the people I have received letters, notes and cards from. I think I have replied to emails and private messages that I've received, if I haven't I apologize deeply. Things are a bit amuck here. When I stand back and look at how much you guys and the fellows from Ramanon have done for me, someone you've never met, it chokes me up. At the same time it renews my faith in humanity. Well, knifers that is.
Thank you for the helping hand. Thank you for everything.
Tank.

Nice of you to keep checking in and posting Tank.
Perhaps you have for gotten. So I am reminding you.
You use this Indan carving with your photos.
I said it looked like a fish tail comming out of the head...
I see you only have one knife in you photo gallery with it.
Do you still have that Indian carving?
Lots of nice knives you have...
Ken

Re: Tank Needs Help!
Lol, yes Ken, I still have my fish-feathered Indian and a turtle. I put him with the Case whittler because it matched -- red bone, red cedar. Thanks for the compliments on my collection. I was hoping to leave it to my niece and nephew to help with their college tuition but I'm worried I may have to sell some to help with medical costs. I trade now instead of buying.
