I like old Barlow knives, the older the better!

So far I think Charlies Terrier barlow is the most attractive barlow I have seen :D ::tu:: ::drool::

Here are some more...

Three old Russell`s and two old Queen`s

I really like the First Generation Bulldog Barlows. I believe they are very underrated and quite affordable compared to others though I have seen them sell for in excess of $250.00.

I think the stag on the First Generation Bulldog Barlows. is almost always very nice.

The other place I look for the First Generation Bulldog Barlows to have excellent looking stag is the club knives (such as the Old Dominion club knives) and also for the knives that have an S&D Our Best etch with and S&D Cut. Co. tang stamp.

Bulldog had a lot of Barlow parts (at least blades - 1986 English Steel) when Jim Parker bought Bulldog from Charlie Dorton. Maybe they were expensive to build, but another Barlow like the first generation Barlows was never built. The parts (blades) were put into the 3-1/2 inch Bullet Trapper in the second generation. They made between 750 and 800 of them. Lots of folks don't know what they are and they sell for very little - I got a couple for about $25 as my best buy. Here is a picture of one, they are often mis-identified on eBay.

You can see how easy it was to convert them, just make a bolster and handles, then drill another hole in the liner.

Fran,

Actually the second one and last one have a clip blade.

The second one is a two blade and the last a single blade.

I have attached pics of both with the blades open.

The last picture is a Daddy Barlow, with the regular size Barlow for size comparison.

I have a lot of Russell Barlow knives, they are the most common old ones to find.

Now to find that Wolfertz Barlow I have............ ::hmm::

Here are my only two. The GEC speaks for itself. The Schrade is another matter. These came out in a SFO for American Express. There were five patterns, in Micarta, not Delrin. Each knife is signed, but not only are there different signatures on a given pattern, with slightly different art, but also different art on a given pattern by the SAME artist. I am amazed by this series. I think that every knife is indeed different, which is a mindblower when we are talking about Schrade, and I think that these knives are real sleepers as collectibles. I have an example in all five patterns, and two of one pattern, but I think one would have to accumulate a couple dozen to get a sense of how many variations there are.

This is a circa 1860-90 Needham Bro`s flat bolster Barlow knife.

It has all the bell`s and whistle`s.

Flat fancy bolsters, stag handles, razor blade, pen blade, and square joint construction. :)

Very Nice!
Needham made some beautiful knives. That's certainly one of them.

I just have a few

Here is a Camilus made Russel Comerative with some of original blue/green coating still on it.

A Ka-Barlow....
IMG_0424.JPG
And a Bear and Sons that I am growing fond of. It is red stag bone with carbon steel blades, USA made and I paid like 35.00 for it. So far it has held an edge well, good fit and finish, better than some recent Case I have gotten in fact.

Gentlemen, that's a splendid parade of a wide range
of various brands of Barlows. Really enjoyed viewing those. ::ds::

I have some from several manufacturers but none are real old.
Guess my favorites are the 1983 Heritage series from Schrade.
Available in red, green or brown smooth bone. As I understand it, the green barlow was a 1983 item only. Red & brown only colors available for 1984. Then for 1985-86 the barlow was replaced in the Heritage series with the 2331 Jack.
Dale, if my info is in error, feel free to jump in.(& please do!)

Might as well throw in the standard 206 also.
