ID This please

Post by Hawke »

Im a bit rusty on my knife info, been mess'n with Scriptos a lot lately. So hello old friends, and...

Can you ID this weird tang mark?
Looks like a sailors knife or old utility knife, with horn handles. Not a real expensive guy by the look of the bolsters. The Tang mark seems familiar but thought I would be lazy on researching thru Goins and just ask here. Im gonna clean it up and shoot it to ebay probably.

Info appreciated you old geezers. :-P

Its for sale, but I'd really like to clean it up some first to get the most out of it of course. Quick cash is in demand today however. Im stretched out over this barrel and Mr Blister spotted me and now he is blistering me! Its not a pretty picture, ....well. I look good but Blister is one ugly opportunist! (hes dumb too but I didnt want to hurt his feelings)

If I had to guess, I would say that the Vic blade was added later as a repair. The SS blade just does not go with the rest of the knife.

So what are your ideas on the letters gang? Does "CL" sound good?. I considered the larger letter being a "D" and worn off but not seen well in the pics is the fact that the top right of the stamping is not fully imprinted so its not a worn "D". The dot to the lower left of the "L" has me baffled and wondering what that may lend to the big picture.

For something on that scale, seems like they could spring for a couple more pictures and show all the blades.

I vaguely recall another attempted sale of that knife on ebay. Seems it had some issues and either didn't make the reserve or they pulled it. Looks like it's hitting a home run this go around.

I guess they're bidding on pure faith in the written word...either no one's even asked a single question about it, or the seller doesn't dare post them.
