Trying out the new camera. It is not easy to take good pictures of knives. With the reflections and lighting bright spots.

Nice shot Bill, I always have a tough time with pearls and abalone. Never seem to capture the fire. You done good!

WB is right there. Never easy to shoot Abalone but you have done it! I'm still tryin to figure it out.

I agree nice job capturing the abalone, Bill.
Only suggestion I have is move in closer
to present more knife/less table.
WB, for pearl to show fire and character seems to me
less light is more. Example, Hoppe Bros. knife 1st outside
light on shaded porch. 2nd inside with lot less light.
3rd inside has light actually behind and above knife
and backdrop which caused scales to pickup
reflection from gold mat in front of knife.

Ok, here's my attempt at my Abalone King Cotton Queen City Sampler.
This photo has not been retouched in Iphoto, I was bound and determined to get it without
any help. Used Caleb's idea of shooting with all manual settings, controlling the light and using 64 on the shutter speed.
