thanks guys,
something about that shot bothers me.
I think it is the shadow. I was just about to run out of daylight.
It does enhance the jigging though.

That grand canyon jigging on the Boker is my all time favorite jigging, followed by their washboard jigging. I used to have one of each, then foolishly sold them. I made a rare foray into the back yard with my camera this pm. There was about 15 minutes of sunlight left so I tried some outdoors shots of the two spyders in my pocket.

I still have a long way to go in developing knife photography skills, but I decided to snap a few photos of my oldest knives this afternoon.
I purchased the Schrade serpentine jack and the Colonial Barlow when I was a young boy in the late '60s/early '70s. The Böker Tree Brand stockman I probably bought in the late '80s when I was building docks.
My recent renewal of interest in pocket knives has caused me to get these three out and do some work on them. I knocked down most of the rust that had accumulated on the Böker due to it sitting in a slot of a leather tool pouch for the past 20 years. I am in the process of finding someone to rescale the Colonial. The Schrade, which was the last gift I gave my grandad, has an honored place of retirement.

Thanks for that encouragement. I am getting better at figuring out lighting and angles. Those two shots were taken this afternoon out on the slate sidewalk between the driveway and house when the sky turned ever so slightly overcast. If I just had a camera that would allow me to focus the shot where I want (instead of this auto focus Canon) I think I could do much better.

You, sir, are too kind! I'll have to buy you a beer or a coffee (or whatever you prefer) when I am in Nashville in May.

I edited my Saturday afternoon post back on p. 71 to do a bit of an experiment, and I would appreciate the input of others.
When I looked at this post tonight, the photobucket photos didn't look as sharp or vibrant as what I had on my laptop, so I did an attachment of the knives open photo for comparison. Is it just me, or does the photobucket picture appear to be a lower quality image?

I can only tell you that I was never too impressed with their set in general Doug. Don't have any other information because I never used them.

Yes Tim, it has been with me now about 3 years. Every time I think I'll sell these "End Of Day" knives, I take a picture of one and decide to keep them. I can see now where your focus is and I would say you have some incredible and unique stag handled beauties! Tim these shots are spot on my friend!

I finally got some halfway decent pics of my grandad's Schrade 708Y. The catalog says the scales are delrin, but with the shrinkage I am wondering if they are celluloid.
