That's a "Flowery Bow-Tie" (name just created by me, QTCut5, on another thread in Case Collector's Forum: "What's this shield called?")

Here are a few cool shields from my collection. I know the Northwoods arrowhead and the Ka-Bar dog head shields have already been posted...but now you get to see the knives they are on as well.

Cheers & Aloha,

Edit: nearly forgot as it was during my search of this forum about 45 minutes ago. JACK KNIFE BEN showed a big Cattaraugus with one of these on it also.
Absolutely stunning knife bro...stunning!

Shapleigh Keen Kutter K30, most likely made by Camillus in the 1950s

Here's a couple of Standard Knife Co. glitter gold shields. David Anthony (PA Knives) sold me the little jack.
I like these knives.

I picked this knife up at an antique store yesterday. It is a H&B from New Britain Conn. I cannot find any info on this and have been told the shield is rare any info would be appreciated value age etc.

I've saved most all the shields shown in this thread on my PC. I scrolled through them and did not see this shield that showed up on a Belknap Hardware Congress. Nothing fancy but a little different.

Thanks do you have any idea what the value of it would be for a collector

Well, to you it was worth at least $5, but to someone else it could be worth ten times that (or more). The only way to know for sure is to put it out there and see what kind of offers you get. I have found that despite whatever the price guides and catalogs may claim, the value of any given knife is simply the amount a buyer/collector is willing to pay for it. There are so many variables that determine "value," and I'm no expert, but I think it would be difficult to place a definitive value on it. When it comes to collecting, so much of the value is subjective and dependent on hard-to-define aspects such as the individual taste of and/or aesthetic appeal to a particular collector; how do you measure, calculate or quantify that? Probably the most you can hope for is a range based on measurable criteria like age, rarity, condition, etc. I'm sure there must be an AAPK member who can give you a rough idea of the upper limit of the range. You may need to start your own thread to get the attention of the proper expert(s) to focus on this particular knife. You could also list it in the advertisements forum for a best offer and see what turns up.

Neat shields, Dimitri. The knife looks like it has some age to it.
Who made it? How long is it?
Thanks.
