All About Pocket Knives

Thank you Edge, I wish I had the ability to use those words but you said it so much better than I ever could. Camera terms are hard! Also after the shots are taken. I use my Iphoto to sharpen if needed but I don't use a lot now that I have figured this camera out.

I use a tripod, the two second delay and the macro setting (no super macro setting on my camera) but my camera doesn't have a manual setting on the shutter speed and I don't have a light tent. I use a free program called Photoscape that improves my pictures quite a bit but nowhere the quality of yours. I'm still learning on Photoscape. For a freebie, it's pretty powerful.

Guess I'll show ya this one too. Just took this in the last 10 minutes. GEC Pioneer, BIG #23, the only one I own but I'm very impressed with these big boys. Those are great Monk!!

Phenomenal pics Perry......and thanks for the tips. Right now I gotta stick with my 3.2 MP Canon Powershot from 19 hundred somthing and a pice of tissue paper covering the flash to reduce glare.

TripleF, you would be amazed at how many pros use make-shift stuff to get the effect they need.

Quick tip: Use a piece of a dryer sheet (like Bounce) instead of tissue as a diffuser - it's more durable and the light it lets through is a bit more consistent ...

I really gotta get back to my camera - this phone pic stuff is for the birds …

Edge is right, if you look at some of my earlier pics from 2008, I was using a Canon very similar to what yours is.
I use to diffuse light all over the place. Paper towels, Bounce sheets, T-shirtd, whatever, I've used them all. In fact the way I shot these last pics (Buffalo Horn #23) I turned off the flouresent bulbs in my garage and only used the 2 lights that came with this tent. I backed them off about 6 inches from the sides of the tent then slightly turned them out towards me, in front of the tent. When you can control the light, you can do anything you want.

Here's one of the hardest knives for me to shoot. Primitive Bone UN-X-LD Northfield. Finally, I was able to get the green to show properly. This took about 10 attempts.

Barry, I have to say, your Canon Power Shot is a better camera than my Casio. I took some good pictures with my Canon Power shot before it died a few years back.
