Dave I think the downward angle is to make
it more difficult to use the blade tip as a screwdriver.
Just kidding of course, actually downward angle reduces
the drag coefficient.
Might also consider handling a #56 before deciding based on
one's experience with a Ruff Ryder Canoe.

I only have one, results of a roadtrip to Case dealer about
40 miles away. Intended to buy a certain series stockman
but dealer's 3 samples all had various cosmetic shortcomings
that led me to believe they should all stay there.
Circling his displays for a likely alternative and found this Case
Bros FPR Moose with matching handles and everything fit like
they all should before leaving the factree. imho
Since it was older stock, think it was even on sale.

I'm ashamed of it but I have a comment about the #56.

I don't like a knife that has the blade at a downward angle when open. I'm afraid I could never love a #56.

I destroyed a Rough Rider Canoe for that very reason.

There's no shame in prefference Dave. Personnally, I don't like spear points or congress patterns There's millions of beautiful examples of them, but they just don't ring my bells.
I get what you're saying about the downward angle. It took me a minute to get a grip on it too, only a minute. To me, it's actually quite comfortable in the hand and easy to work with. For me the big test was whittling. If it's comftable enough to sit and fiddle with then I'm never gonna put it down, and it whittled the bejezus out of a few good sticks already. I give it a big

I'd say those are really good Dave. On older knives, it's always harder to get all the lighting just right on them.

I have a better than average compact digital camera (Nikon Coolpix P60).

It can pretty much sing and dance.

I shoot MOSTLY outside under the RV shelter. We have a bunch of wood stacked there.

Main improvement I could make would be tripod. Use to have a couple, but I haven't seen them in a while.

Yep, that Tripod will make a BIG difference and you can get one pretty cheap.

One other thing I do that made a HUGE difference with my old Sony Floppy Drive Camera and a decent difference with this one, is shoot the biggest pic the camera will take.

Then crop and using Irfanview I shrink it to a more normal size. Tightens up the grain a lot.

They look the best, I'm really liking how this one looked after all the time it spent in the pocket.

Thanks Tim and Bonehead! Case XX 40 to 64 stamp. This was a knife I found on ebay several years ago. It had been destroyed, tons of paint and rust all over it. It needed to be restored IMO.
