LENGTH (Closed):   4-7/16”

BOLSTERS:   Steel

SHIELD:   None. Instead handle is lightly stamped Crown Zellerback with a logo proceeding the words.

HANDLES:   Cocobolo wood

BLADES:   Square-point Navy blade, (this term taken from the 1963 Schrade Walden catalog).

LINERS:   Steel

TANG STAMPS:   SCHRADE/WALDEN/N.Y. U.S.A./163

CONDITION:   Excellent

DAMAGE: Normal use and wear bolsters in handle. Normal staining of carbon steel blade. The advertising logo stamped on the handle is faint but I think it probably came from the factory that way.

BLADE WEAR:   The blade has been sharpened but appears to be nearly full.

SNAP:   Like a bear trap!

MADE IN:   U.S.A.

ADDITIONAL INFO:      This knife appears to be designed after some of the old Naval rope knives. The Schrade catalog call it a rope or hawser knife and some of the earlier catalogs referred to the blade as a “square-point Navy blade.” Obviously a knife designed to do heavy cutting. I suspect the knife was made for Crown Zellerback for use in one of their paper mills for cutting the ends of large rolls of paper. A nice addition for anyone’s Schrade Walden collection.
