Looking around the web I see many retailers have them at that price currently.   MADE IN:   Solingen Germany   ADDITIONAL INFO:     I don’t know a surefire way to tell the age of these knives. I sold these knives in the 1980s and the cutlery store and I believe they had the same blade etch as these do. The current blade edge shown on the manufacturers website is a little bit different than the etch on these knives. These knives have forged blades and bolster with a full tang that is covered by the molded black composite handle. These are a premium knife and in the 1980s some of the best production knives you could buy. Of course the word “best” is a very subjective word and there will always be discussion around which is the absolute best, but Henkel Four-Star series are always among the top contenders. A set of four Henckels Four-Star steak knives are currently on sale for $199.99. That equates to a price of $50 per knife for a set of four when they are on sale. This is a set of six knives for $75. They are perfect, but the dings on the handles will probably not even be noticed when your guests cut their steak with these knives. These knives are sharp and over the years I have sold many of these over the years as 4-1/2” pairing knives. Henckels used to offer this knife singly as a paring knife. Apparently these are being replaced by the Henckels Four-Star II which has a stainless steel but on the end of the handle which is supposed to aid in balancing. That knife is available singly and now on sale for $94.95. The regular price is $120. You will probably agree that these are some of the best steak knives you have ever owned.
