ADDITIONAL INFO: The Gerber Silver Knight series was introduced in 1977. They were first called Silver Eagle, but a lawsuit from Trailways Bus Co forced them to change the name. Gerber renamed them “Silver Knight.” Since this knife is marked Silver Knight, it was made sometime between 1979 and 1994. Gerber knives were very popular and many companies gave them to their employees for various awards. This one was obviously a safety award knife, the way I’m not sure which company it was. There was a Hervin Company in Tualatin OR, just a few miles from the Gerber factory. The company made Blue Mountain dog food. Alpo purchased the company and the trademark in 1986. I imagine the knife was made for the Hervin Company of Tualatin as the old Hervin factory site is only about 5 or 6 miles from the Gerber factory.
