This nice looking early vintage and lightly used IK CO inside a diamond 2-blade Swell End Jack folding pocket knife was made prior to the days Imperial began making the cheaper clamshell knives starting with the Imperial Hammer Brand knives. This was before that era and when Imperial was still making good high quality pocket knives. This particular stamp, with IK CO inside a diamond, was an early stamp and was only used from c.1928-1930. The knife has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. Both faces have scratches from use and only a few very light stains. Stamped on the front tang is IK CO (inside a diamond) indicating this knife was made between c.1928-1930. The knife also has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. Both faces have scratches from use and only a very faint line of old micro-pitting on the centerline of the rear face. Both blades gave excellent hard and loud open and close snap and very hard and distinct half-stops. It has a set of jigged bovine bone scales which you don’t see on many Imperial knives. There is a single tight crack on the rear scale in an odd place. It runs from the end cap over to the first jig mark and then stops its well below and not on a pin which is strange. Other than the one there are no other cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three (3) brightly polished brass handle pins in each scale. The knife has steel squared bolsters and rounded end caps. The liners are brightly polished brass. The knife has two (2) steel back springs and both are free of any cracks or breaks. Both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This really nice early, and very hard to find, IK CO 2-Blade Swell End Jack is 3 3/8” in length. Made by the Imperial Knife Co located in Providence, Rhode Island and Made Between c.1928-1930. Additional photos or information on request.
