Boker Germany – 1 Blade Trapper – NKCA Youth Knife PROTOTYPE – Purple Bone

German made Boker, single blade trapper. Made in 1991 as a submission for the 1992 NKCA Youth Knife program. This is the original 1 piece prototype submitted by Boker to the National Knife Collectors Association. It was not the winning knife that year, and so never went into full production. However, the winning knife was a similar knife made by Boker for Burnt Chimney in white bone. This knife was sold through the Voyles Prototype auction in 2009 to raise funds for the NKCA.

This knife measures 4 1/8 inch closed. It has jigged purple bone handles, and includes 2 boker shields, 1 in nickel silver and 1 in brass. Likely if it had been the winning knife, the 2^nd shield would have been replaced with the round NKCA shield instead. It has brass liners, stainless blade, and nickel silver bolster.

This knife does not have a half stop. It did not come with a box. The bolster is engraved “001” and the blade is etched “1992 NKCA Youth Knife”.

The knife has never been used or sharpened. The blade has strong snap open and closed. The back handle has a crack at the center pin. The back handle is faded to a more grey color than purple.
