ADDITIONAL INFO: The Big Joe (#4200), is one of the patterns listed in the 1985 Kershaw catalog along with the Lil’ Cody (#4000), Whiskey Gap (#4100), Wild Turkey (#4150), Whiskey Gap (#4100), Black Horse (1060), and the two bladed (#4300), and the 45 Ranch (#4350). This was a very popular series with most of these knives being made for 10 years or more. The Whiskey Gap and Wild Turkey were still being made in Japan as late as 2010, however the last catalog in which I see the Big Joe listed is the 1993 catalog. The next catalog I have chronologically as 1999-2000 and the big Joe is not listed in that one. It disappeared somewhere around 1995, to the best of my recollections. The Wild Turkey is probably my favorite knife in this series with the Big Joe a close second. The Big Joe is the next size up. It allows a person with large hands, (like me), to get a good grip on it. I usually need to add a wider handle to a Wild Turkey to get a better grip that the Big Joe has directly from the factory. This is a great knife for work knife, a hunting knife or a fishing knife. The nice sharp point makes easy work of piercing the skin of a fish when cleaning it or piercing the hide of a deer when cleaning it. It also works great to open clampacks and other packaging. Great for your collection or for your field kit!

This knife appears never to have been sharpened, used or carried. It still has the Kershaw "scary sharp edge." It comes in the leather sheath which is wrapped in a plastic bag and comes in the original box with a small booklet entitled Lockback Knife Operating Instructions and also the warrantee is written in the booklet. The box itself survived remarkably well and has of course protected the knife in the sheath. There is some numbers and a price hand written on the back of the box, probably by the original owner.

NOTE: there are no etches on the blade, bolsters or handles, this was not an advertising knife.
