**Super Rare** True Split Back W&S Butcher Sheffield Congress Whittler
Like many, I hate the use of Rare but as you read and study the pictures you will know why this knife is rare. At first look, it is an old knife with a broken blade, so, what is the big deal?
To start W&S Butcher congress whittler circa 1850, ivory handle material, long pull master blade, is also stamped Temperance Knife.
What makes this so rare is the configuration of the backspring, It started a one piece of steel and split on one end to accommdate 2 separate blades.
A true split back whittler. Please study the pictures to understand.
I have no way to determine a value of this knife, rare but damaged. So listing with a high $$$, feel free to make offers for what you consider a fair price to pay.
