Re: Assisted open knives

Kershaw Dividend, titanium frame version. Love the thing, and when I found out they were discontinued, I bought two more. I did have one nail me once though. Kershaw OSO Sweet popped open as I was pulling it out from some baggy shorts. Snagged the fabric just enough to fly open, and instead of letti...

Re: It's In The Mail

Bulldog Mini Trapper w/broken chain scales, 2005 Neat lil trapper, couldn't resist. Seller called the scales "broken chain" (no idea where that name came from) and noted them as being plastic. But a google search has these listed as celluloid. ::uc:: If they are celluloid, do you think the...

I only have one Mcusta, but it's nice enough that I'd grab another from them.

Re: Looking for the Featherstone - Durber Sheffield

Leave it to me to dig up old dead threads, but here I go ! ::rotflol:: I'm still interested in finding one of these knives. I ask here because I have exhausted my search online, and I'm just spinning my wheels at this point. So if anyone has a Featherstone - Durber they're willing to part with, hit ...

Thank you knifeaddict1965 (and everyone else who helped out too) !! ::ds::

Now I have the info, I can work on tracking one down. Don't know why, but I really like this knife for some reason, guess because it's different. A hunting we will go !

Thanks again !

Re: Need a Case ID

Really nice knife. Too bad you did not win. Maybe the knife is a SFO (special factory order) from a retail knife company like Smokey Mountain. Someone will come along shortly and tell us for sure. :D Bob I got the sad feeling it might have been part of a dealer display, or maybe an employee - only ...

Need a Case ID

Just missed out on this trapper on eBay, but now I can't even find another one online. I thought for sure I could "google - pic" the thing and come up with another one. So not only can't I find one, but I also have no clue what year or series it's from. They always say if ya find something...

Re: Push Knife ID help

Pretty sure the dagger is a home made affair using the handle from an old walking cane and inserting a blade from another dagger. I don't think it is very old as a push dagger. Cool idea for sure. I would almost bet there was a complete cane assembly this went with. Still pretty neat on it's own. :...

Re: So, two Bokers walk into a bar ...

Ya know Mike, in the end, it's what ever works for you. True, can't get any worse. Seems I've been doing this the hard way for 10yrs lol. I've been pinning the rocker and the back pins, and then compressing the pivot and attaching the blade(s). Guess that's why I figured out the trick with using a ...

Re: So, two Bokers walk into a bar ...

Personally I like the idea of burning the brand into the wood. It will be a real brand. And it won’t come off or fall off like epoxy filler most likely will. Especially on a work knife. JMO Ken Yeah, I still like the real brand too. Gonna stink to high heaven (I'm using bone handles) but worth it. ...

My Hen & Rooster 212 Mini Trappers. The box that the Blue Bone 212BLB came in clearly shows "Made in Solingen, Germany." The tang stamps show "Bertram Cutlery" as well as "Solingen Germany" P3090003.JPGP3090004.JPGP3090005.JPG This Stag 212DS has "C. Bertram&q...

Re: KEEN EDGE - STAINLESS STEEL - JAPAN

Pretty..... I found this in the 1998 copy of GOINS. It does not mention JAPAN, STAINLESS STEEL, or a second tang stamp at all. It may very well have started with Simmons, but was bought years later and used for an importers line later on. It happened a lot, importers used an old name and contracted...

Pretty neat jigging pattern on it, can't say I've seen that before. Keen Edge doesn't show up in any of my reference books, but I'm guessing it's a name registered to an importer, we just got to figure out who. Hopefully someone else here knows.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............

A tale of two Buck Creek Whittlers ... The stag version has decent fit / finish compared to the red pick bone knife, it's obvious they didn't come off the same assembly line. Both have strong snap and good edges, and the stag handles look great, whereas the red pick bone scales don't even match each...

Re: Hammer Brand "tiny" Knife

That's in great shape if it's a shell knife. Usually the scales start shrinking and peeling apart after awhile. Unless there is the "Hammer" stamp on the tang, with the arm and such, it might be difficult to date. But, my guess would be 60's - 70's gumball machine era ! I remember seeing ...
