Re: German Bulldog knives
Right you are. One can't have too many BDs. Sadly, I suffer from cellulose phobia. But your collection looks great.

Re: Read the knife, dummy!
Marco, you are a better man than I. If I obtained a knife believing it was an original, even if it was my error, a reproduction would leave a bitter taste in my mouth for quite a while. This has nothing to do the with quality of the repro even tho it is first rate. Just takes me longer to get over a...

Below is a Western Bowie. On the tang is "W49 and the letter J." Can anyone explain these markings. I believe the W 49 is the model number.
Anyway to identify when this was made or issued?

Spyderco knives were heavily used before my retirement. The shiny model on the left is my oldest; about 30 years of age.

Although I was up quite early, it is after noon time now so Good Afternoon. David, enjoy your voyage of discovery into your car/computer. On my sister's SUV, I found the computer provided a lot of useful information, e.g. mpg, tire pressure, etc. However there are so many other features that I suspe...

Re: First Cup Diner!
Ike, and perhaps a few others, might recall that at the end of February I began investigating the use of gin soaked raisins for my knee arthritis. I have been using them for over a month now. Here are the results. Pain in both knees has been reduced by about 90%. Stiffness has been reduced by perhap...

Sunny and clear here. 35 going to 57. My youngest brother has been working on a movie in Greece but if plane connections work out he will stop in Indiana to watch the solar eclipse then swing down here for a brief visit and meal. Speaking of movies, I have been exposing my sister to more of the clas...

Q, I am very pleased to learn of the scrimshaw influence. K7k, you have so very many subsections and each is interesting in its own way. ::tu:: Marco, you are right in thinking that I am not a hunter. However, I will not enter the woods unarmed. The middle gun, the M-1 carbine is the only military p...

Re: Bulldog Peacock
Looks like a Bulldog to me. I suspect its misalignment occurred subsequent to its manufacture. At least I have never encountered one in that condition.
My purchases of Bulldogs are limited to NOS, essentially mint.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Yesterday's storms passed north of us towards and around Louisville. Late this day we are apparently likely to receive some light non-accumulating snow. Had a Cooper's Hawk visit two days ago. Easter greetings from former students were fun, but some of them are retired now, which is just hard for me...
