Re: A GEC with a spearpoint blade of 3.7 to 4 inch blade?

Thanks for the information. My budget definitely has limits so I may need to adjust my criteria or simply try a different brand.

Re: Looking for a list of GEC single blade large knives

I saw your recent post in this thread on another forum. Is the information in post #3 not conclusive enough? https://bladeforums.com/threads/list-of-gec-knives-and-if-they-have-half-stops-and-lengths.1091784/ Wow Rick!! That sure is an extensive list you provided. I'd be real happy if someone did t...

I agree. The 97 is my only GEC at the moment but would like to see if there are other GEC models with an even longer blade, yet still has a light pull like this one does.

Re: Looking for a list of GEC single blade large knives

New #97 would fit the bill. Huge, pinchable, light pull. There are still plenty of them out there too. The list from my main knife forum is excellent, but am not sure what the blade length is. I went to the GEC site but wasn't clear if they had all the specs for all their models, or just for the on...

Looking for a list of GEC single blade large knives

Before trying to read the specs on each GEC knife with single blades, can anyone point me to some information sources which will help to list every model, pattern number for all single blades of 3.4 inches or longer, or with a closed length of about 4.5 inches or longer? I am interested in looking a...

Re: A GEC with a spearpoint blade of 3.7 to 4 inch blade?

I appreciate all the input. At this point I am starting to think that there may not be a knife that meet all the criteria on my wish list. I have been a real knife guy for over 50 years and the only spearpoints I have seen have never been that big, if memory serves.

Re: A GEC with a spearpoint blade of 3.7 to 4 inch blade?

I want a blade with a very light pull, yet a really large single blade, of st lest 3.7 inches or bigger. Is there such a thing? Thanks The closed length of the knives below fit the 3.7 to 4 inch parameter. If you want the blade to be 3.7 to 4 inch, then these are probably short. The Tuna Valley bra...

Re: A GEC with a spearpoint blade of 3.7 to 4 inch blade?

I'm assuming you already know...but didn't want to take it for granted. There are still a lot of nice #97's, their nail nick placements help with the lighter pull. Most have the clip blade...not sure if they make one with the spear point. https://www.bladehq.com/item--GEC-97-Northfield-UN-X-LD-Pock...

I admire all these walking sticks. Wish I had a pic to share but I have never made one. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what knife design/pattern would be best for a first time whittle?

Thanks very much. Do you know if there are any other single blade models which have different handle/scale materials but otherwise the same dimensions, etc. of model 44?

Queen #44 and variants. Which models single blade?

I got a knife off an auction site which is a really large, hefty, single blade folding hunter (I think that is what some call them). I got one where someone did not treat it well and I can't make out the model number but think it is a 44. I think it was from the 60's. I really like it so much that I...

A Camillus made "Robeson" from circa 1966 to 1976, with dark red Delrin handles would fit your parameters. I might still have one or two. Charlie Noyes I'm not sure how to send a message direct to you. Could you check your stock and see if you have one with the criteria I want? I prefer j...

Mothers Blue Magic SemiChrome Turtle Wax red and the white compound. If you've ever used any of those 5 metal polishes...how do they compare to Flitz ? I've used all three on cars and bikes with good results. I have found Mother's to be a good, general purpose polish, and use Flitz as the final step.

Can anyone recommend a specific make and model of Barlow, either in production or out of production, which can be had in decent used condition for a modest sum (75.00 is the highest) with the following characteristics: 1) Big handles/scales - - fairly long 2) Big, 4 inch blade or even a little longe...
