Re: Robeson 4 Blade

I think Charlie is probably referring to the pattern number on the knife. In Robeson pattern numbering system the first digit denotes the handle cover material. In this case “7”, which should be pearl. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/catalog/content/robeson-knife-numbering-system Ken He was, b...

Re: Mystery Knife Game

I can't remember the old knives and don't know newer ones, but I realize I'm old and young people do know these.

Microtech, if there's such a thing.

Re: Robeson 4 Blade

Isn't that a patch on the right end of the pile side Charlie?
I wouldn't think the handle was replaced if that's a patch, if that's what I'm seeing.

Re: Dave Shirley Marbles

Nice knives all, I just pretty much read the entire thread.

And I thought all along these were Chinese. I imagine they are quality, as Bill Howard was still at Queen. I've never held one . Too bad Bill Shirley never patterned the rooster comb. :)

Re: Six Dozen Eggs And Two Quarts Of Honey

Read every word and felt a kinship form. My mother gave us a little of all her kitchenware that she could spare when we began honeymooning . There were still 6 more brothers and sisters and inter loping cousins too eating at home. We lived as newlyweds in a camper under a big beech tree by the rock ...

Re: All About Vegetation, House Plants, Gardens, Trees ect.

I don't know if I had ever seen this thread before, maybe as my mental retention has become increasingly lacking. Ken , Jan's cacti both bloomed a couple weeks ago. Our daffodils were blooming in February. Ink, lots of beauty around there. What are the pink trees blooming? The left and right look li...

Re: Tina #605 - high end grafting knife

Welcome Butch . Thanks for your info. I know the quality of Tina has been earned.

I collect horticultural knives ,mainly what's called rooster combs or farmers jack pattern. Where do you all perform the grafting work, and what is your sharpening method?

Re: Old Hawkbills

Great thread , except for Photobucket. I do love the curvy knives; great ones Mike ( what handles) , Joe ,Floyd, and John.

How did you sharpen them John?

By the way Roger , if Goins was right that Boker is one of ,if not the most spectacular surviving old knives I have ever seen!
