I like to match the bit to the pin as close as I can within reason. I use carbide jobber length drills for hardened steel.

I'm betting Mike would tighten that up for you, I have always heard good things about his CS. It's likely a slightly undersized pin or it just wasnt peened quite tight enough

I would recommend a carbide dovetail cutter in a mill. A rotarry tool and a cutoff wheel if you're just looking for functional on a knife that's not valuable. The correct way would be to heat the blade, re stamp the nick and re heat treat the blade but that is very labor intensive and more expensive...

If in doubt the layers id it as ivory also, elk has no such layers and oftentimes porosity will be visible

Yep thats preban elephant bark. I did that for Big monk many years ago. Maybe 9-10? "Should" be stamped with my mark on the inside liner. Sorry I missed the post I stay so busy these days I don't browse the forums much at all anymore..

yes, i do all my own leather work. I had the original sheath artwork replicated by an artist then had that artwork rendered into a custom made stamp
