Thank you. *Admin, I appreciate you allowing me to briefly drift from knife-specific subject matter. :) Now, the big N-frame... ::groove:: (Copy of original invoice shows this revolver, 2nd from bottom of list; the only revolver chambered in “.44 Mil.” aka .44 Special.) .44 Hand Ejector, Second Mode...

Re: The History The Edw. K. Tryon Company of Philadelphia.

Thank you for posting, Cuda. I don’t own any Tryon knives but I do own two Smith & Wesson revolvers that were shipped to E. K. Tryon Co., Philadelphia: a .38 “Regulation Police” that shipped to Tryon in 1919 and a .44 Hand Ejector, 2nd Model that shipped to Tryon in 1927. Both are collector grad...

What’s It Worth?... Inverted 3-line 119

Hello, knife-collecting friends! I don’t have a photo, (yet) but I looked one over recently and the 440-C steel blade looked nice, with no signs of heavy edge work. On the down side, the sheath is long missing. What say you, the Buck aficionados? Is this worth more than $20 or $30? (I’ll try to get ...

Re: David Yellowhorse. The beginning.

I’ve been out (from Central Texas) to California a number of times over the last 12 months... On one of the drives, along I-10, IIRC, I saw the sign and building for Yellowhorse Knives. Now, I wish time was on my side and I had stopped. It seemed an unlikely birthplace for the knives so highly regar...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

::tu:: For $17 I'd snag it too! Great find and it's in great condition. Thanks, Byrd. It had resided in its leather sheath for quite some time, judging from the verdi gris on the brass and the light rust on the blade. (I wish I had taken a “before” pic.) I have given the blade a little clean up wit...

Yet, another 110 w/sheath.
Nothing particularly special about this “4 dot,” I just like these old workhorses. And, even though I already had a comparable “4 dot,” it was just $17.
I just couldn’t pass it up. :D

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

Last week, I posted a picture in the 500 Series thread, but hadn’t actually purchased it until I went back two days ago. “It” is a Duke, 500 made in the early ‘80s. Has light handling marks but, appears unsharpened and was initially slow-closing at end of “snap.” After a couple dozen or so openings ...

Re: Buck 500 series

Thank you Old Hunter ! This is what i like about Buck collecting: most of the answers are actually known but to become 'one who knows' you need to be devoted enough to spend a few years reading & collecting. My knife above with script/micarta is from 1978/79 to 1980 because birch handles starte...

Re: I Passed on This One... See why?

If it locks up right I’d offer $20; if accepted, clean it up and put a new edge on it. Great car, truck, or tacklebox knife - 440C once sharp, is as good as it gets for a working knife. OH He wouldn’t come down more than 10%. I tried to tell him condition-wise it just was priced way high. No sale. ...

I Passed on This One... See why?

As a fan of Buck lockbacks, in particular the 110s and 112s, I was really disappointed to see this... I’ve seen Bert’s 4 pin, 2 dot 110 picture and knew I just had to find one, some day! Well, I found one; the first one I’ve actually examined first-hand. Sadly, I had to pass on it. The blade looks l...

Re: Buck 500 series

Good to know, OH.

Unfortunately, it’s without box, papers, or sheath.
I walked away from it so, I could sleep on it. I don’t expect it will be scooped up too quick -it’s well hidden in a BIG store.

Re: Buck 500 series

Rather begin a new thread for my question, I decided to just continue here, since this has to do with the 500 series. Here’s my question: Did any early, Old English script 500s have micarta scales? I came across this specimen, today. I think it’s a fair asking price. I know these aren’t commonly enc...

Thanks to all the good responses, folks!

It looks like the best initial option is lemon oil.
It’s not that any of the wood I have on my old Bucks is overly dirty, but if it makes the wood grain “pop,” then I want to give it a try.

Re: 4 Dot 110, My Latest Buck

I have a good example of a 4 dot that is used in deer season, but for me i prefer a 2 dot. I like the 2 dots, as well... Mainly, because I like the old non-radiused handles found in the 1970s time frame. I know they’re not as ergonomic, but I think they just look cool. 8) Of course, blade steel is ...
