Knife Patterns
Hope this if the correct forum for my question. I am researching toothpick folders and find myself wondering what defines a pattern and if there are sub-patterns. In the case of toothpicks, there are single blade and two-bladed, fishing knifes of several configurations, as well as different lengths....

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
The Gardner Barlow is really cool. ::tu:: Thanks! I like the whale tooth in your avatar. Very cooooooool. Thanks again! The whale tooth is from the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, MA. My Dad bought it for me back in the mid 60s, when they were legal. The Museum had a basket of them at their Gift Sho...

Re: Possible bad tang stamp on Remington R1613
Here is the link to the knife on eBay. The unfortunate part it is posted by one of the large sellers on AAPK Stores. There doesn't appear to be a pattern number on the reverse tang, but it is hard to tell for sure. Also, there is no grooved hook remover in the blade tip bolster. But, the knife does ...

Possible bad tang stamp on Remington R1613
Here is a photo of a Remington Bullet Toothpick, R1613 that is currently on eBay. To me, the tang stamp doesn't look right, especially, "REMINGTON." Thoughts?

Questionable Remington 3 3/8" Scout
I have been looking at this one on eBay, but it doesn't look correct. The seller confirmed the closed length is 3 3/8". Most glaring are crimped bolsters on a RS4233 and acorn shield: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1930s-Remington-Official-Boy-Scout-Pocket-Knife-BSA/122613839951?ssPageName=STR...

Re: A Suggestion For Those Who Post In The Counterfeit Forum
Absolutely great idea Mr. Miller. I just rejoined after a couple years of relocating and buying/selling home(s). Glad to be back. I have couple faked Remington Girl Scouts - will try to photograph and post. I keep them around as a lesson to be more careful.

Re: Remington Purina Knife
Interesting to note that the knife pictured in the ad has pinched bolsters. I have most of the Utica, Kutmaster and Remington Purinas and don't believe I have one with pinched bolsters. I will have to go check.

Re: NEW~ Burnt & Amber Stag Tuna Valley Cutlery Co. Cotton K
Was able to pick up one of the Amber Stag Cotton Samplers from Ryan and Courtney at the Blade Show last weekend. It is a great knife, nicely finished and solid! It will go well with the Ebony Cotton Sampler I picked up earlier. Hope to see more great patterns from Ryan in the future - can't wait til...

Harrisonburg Show
Just got back from the show in Harrisonburg, VA. DropPointHunter had a great display of Canal Street Knives. And the engraved bolster knives are beautiful, especially the flat end bolster Coke Bottle (I think that is the pattern name). Had a very nice talk with DropPoint owner Michael Siegel - very ...

Miller Bros L F & C combo
I saw this on ebay. The Miller tang stamp looks good, but I am thinking the knife was repaired using a LF&C second blade. The pin has been peened over. Any other opinions?

Re: Canal Street Canntiler
Scott, Is there any way you can post a picture or two of those knives ? What was the handle material of the second knife ? Sure Phil, I will try to post some photos this weekend. The second knife is the Tortoise Shell (imitation, of course). I still can't believe the fine edge that all three blades...

Canal Street Canntiler
Just received two Canal Street Canntilers in the mail. Wow, what great knives! I have been collecting knives since elementary school (50 years plus), and in the last ten years have been partial to Canoe patterns, and Whittlers for their difficulty in making. The Canal Street Cannitlers combine the t...

I ended up ordering chestnut and tortoise shell. Wow, these are great knives, the fit and finish is excellent! The D2 steel blades can shave right out of the box - now, can I bear to use one?

Re: Cannitler Collection
Thank you Philco, I think I will try to order one from the D P Hunter store. I saw Chestnut and Amber Stag in stock. The Canal Street knives seem to get better reviews on quality than Great Eastern, so they must be nice. Maybe I should order two; one for using and one for putting away.

Hello all, I just became aware of Canal Street knives, good reviews here. I have always been partial to Whittlers. Is the Canal Street Cannitler a two spring knife?

Re: Remington Fish Toothpick
Thanks all, great information. I didn't know that the straight line Remington stamps were contract knifes. I passed on it, but not because of the quality, it looked to be in good shape. I am going to check my Remington Purina collection now for any straight line Remington stamps

Remington Fish Toothpick
This is close to pattern R1615, but doesn't look correct to me, but I am not too familiar with all the Remingtons from 1920-1940. There is no pattern number on the blade. Thoughts?
