Welkom! It’s great to have you with us. I was about 450 km south east of you this summer. I’d hoped to make it to your area, but it didn’t work out. Beautiful part of the world.

Re: My Nirvana Experience
That’s awesome! Wow! I’m much like you. I can’t remember a time since my late teenage years that I haven’t had more than one job at a time. I have 8 years before I can retire and I’m already thinking about part time jobs! Gotta do something. A job a couple days a week in a knife or gun shop would be...

Re: Sharpening Wheel
I was thinking of making a table out of the wheel. Maybe I ought to see what it'd bring as it. I have no clue what it'd be worth. I’m a little thick! I get what you’re saying now. When you said make a sharpening table I was thinking of the frame. Using the wheel as a sharpening table, now that’s a ...

ya, I just have a 1-acre lot, John Deere 316 and a weed-wacker is about all I need. I like my John Deere mower too! ::tu:: If you decide to take the wheel off you could always sell it and use the proceeds to pay for your sharpening table build. Depending on how big it is, some of them bring a decen...

Re: Sharpening Wheel
So, I have this old wheel, actually came off our family farm, but it really has no bigtime sentimental value to me, it's mostly just an old stone - if it were in good shape maybe that'd be different, but it ain't. Anyway, any good ideas what to do with it? Didn't know if taking the wheel and making...

I never have. I probably ought to though.
But then I’d miss the fun of forgetting one and rediscovering it when I went through the pile.

Re: A Special Young Man’s Special Accomplishment
This is so cool my friend. I'm truly touched. My oldest (5) likes to be in my shop with me, so I'm teaching him how to safely use hand tools, just as you are with yours. Im hoping that my other two (twin 3's) will like to do the same soon, but for one it will be different. One of my boys has cerebr...

Dale, I’m just seeing this. Prayers for all y’all left behind. No matter how prepared we are for a loved one’s passing, we’re still never ready. But I thank God that for the believer, death’s sting has been removed, and the grave holds no victory. Our Father owns the land on both sides of great veil...

A Special Young Man’s Special Accomplishment
Some of y’all know that our youngest boy (13) has special needs. He has intractable epilepsy and is a bit delayed. He’s sharp as a whip, but developmentally about 6 years younger than his age. But recently he’s taken an interest in my woodworking hobby. Since uncontrollable epilepsy and power tools ...

Re: 125 years old and still cutting.
I would not be surprised at all to learn that Stanley bought Goodell and Pratt only to bury the sophistication of a fine company that would infringe on the promotion of Stanley. A tactic used by many. A few more pictures if it matters. That is great! And you’re spot on about Stanley. They did the s...

Joe, are both of yours 2 speed? Yes, the Goodell Pratt has a button that has Slow or Fast on the cap. The button is pressed in to engage or pulled out to disengage. I haven't spent enough time with it to fully understand the mechanics of it. I'll get better pictures of that tomorrow. The Dunlap is ...

Re: 125 years old and still cutting.
Since you mentioned drills, I've got two that are still cutting it. I haven't used these in a while, especially the smaller one. But I haven't been using my tools much of late. These tools are as smooth as butter in spite of their age. ::tu:: Right you are. I still use hand tools to build...
