Re: are bobc mechanisms difficult

Well…. It might be a good time to start getting familiar with the inner workings of what you’re collecting…. Of most vintage autos ( for me) the Italian are the easiest to work on .

Re: are bobc mechanisms difficult

If you rotate the blade closed, can you see the lock slot on the butt of the blade-tang ? If so, are the edges crisp ? Or chipped out/worn

The scales are in pretty rough shape but the knife functions quite well for being 160+ years old. DSC_0011.JPGDSC_0...

With a false edge on the bayonet it doesn’t seem like regrinding it would have favorable results, might be better to just pick up a knife with the blade you like.

Re: OTF Strength?

It depends on what you’re doing with your knife, if being deployed to cut , most with a quality blade will do, if used for self defense or stabbing some will fail if you hit bone. Ive taken a couple cheap ones and drove them with a hammer into wood and they collapsed … none spec out there stay/locki...

Mr. Glaxon offers a service that is needed, i havent sent work there but know many that have and are satisfied. I on occasion do conservative restoration on Press button brand knives and can do it well, but if i need a blade welded on to restore an Antique knife hes the guy. I will say that most res...

Re: Any possibility to repair a small crack on the handle?

Hi, put a drop of superglue or other brand on a surface, take a pin & dip it in the glue , put the pin with glue on it in the blemish, “wick” it off the pin. The medium viscosity would work. Any excess glue can be sanded off . Good luck.

👍 I generally have a flipper or automatic in my pocket when out a about on the ole homestead, they are just as handy as pockets on a shirt when you are holding something in one and have a need to cut something. I ain't got nothing against Saks pocket knives got several and carry them on occasion. I ...

This looks correct 👍 I'd have figured it the way you did Randy, but what WG posted makes a lot of sense too. Re: Crooked Maltese question

Id be careful filing anything, my understanding is that the lock-back needs to be moved back then re-fastened once the blades in the desired position ….. i may be wrong . It could be as simple as tapping it back with a drift punch … tap tap
