Re: Queen Doctor

Very old pattern shows in Schatt & Morgan catalog for1903. This one in carved stag bone was made between 2002 and 2006. Some versions show 420 steel and some D2. I'd prefer the D2. I like this pattern a lot - fairly long main blade and 4"handle let you get some leverage and sharpened they w...

Re: QUEEN GAMEKEEPER VALUES ???

Depends on condition...Many of these Gamekeepers did not get heavy use and are in very nice shape compared to everyday jacks of the same age that have been used hard. You do not see too many of the lockblade skinner- many more fixed blades and traditional folders were sold in this series. And it IS ...

Re: A Possible For Somebody

Yes, a very nice knife. Learn something everyday - bone pores as "Haversian canals" Yep. Never seen them on the delrin. I cannot see the tang stamp too well - I think it is the early to mid 1950s and before they went (like the rest of the knife industry) to delrin. It is my understanding t...

Re: Queen #20 -1932-1955

Yes, very nice knife! It looks more nicely finished to me than the pre-war Queen City knives and I think the company was doing more experimentation with bone handles after the war. If the blade etch is sandblasted, I would bet post WWII. No etch, I'd start leaning older

Re: Anyone have any info and value on this knife?

Hard to say with blade ground, but this looks like a Queen model #89 "canoe" fixed blade (slightly shorter blade than 92. Tang stamp suggests it was made 1954 or later - probably 440 stainless. I agree with others, not much value other than as a cutting instrument - and it could still be g...

Re: QUEEN GAMEKEEPER VALUES ???

These were a very innovative set from Queen, with Higher quality materials, heavy blades, and the black leather sheaths that wrap around the handle. Very nice knives IMO (although the #399 folding skinner is a very unusual shape) to compete with familar Buck hunting knives. The big moose skinner mod...

You are right. I see the 14 etch in one picture... I have been more focused on bigger knives and just bought pair of #17s in abalone- seeing them everywhere. Thanks for correcting.

Re: Queen #22..something does not add up...

I agree with Mr. Knifaholic - looks like special edition in 1990-1996. I believe this tang stamp is shown in Queen tang stamp fold-out guide. That guide is getting quite dated now, and Queen is becoming much more flexible in using stamps requested by a special order or in limited editions (see all t...

Re: A new to me Queeen

On originally posted little red knife, I see the bottom bolster turning away from blade a bit, more like a "reverse peanut , #17 than a 14. I thought peanuts were more like 3.25", so I am quizzical. Pretty red delrin scales make it seem like in 1970s...Thanks for posting.

You see them occasionally on Ebay, though hardly ever with the blue sticker. Some I have seen show the dishing and gritty look that comes from use, but this one seems quite nice.

The Schatt & Morgan key would be very nice to have. Jerry D keep plugging on that! Re the 22 barlow, my eyes cannot distinguish the tang stamp well enough to see if it the one David Clark suggested (73-75), or the earlier one that looks very similar from '58-60. I am inclined to agree with David...

Queen has changed the knife designated by model numbers a great many times. In the Queen Cutlery historical documents website, you can bring up "Historical Catalogs," with a listing for each year where a catalog has been identified from 1947-2103 (Part B). Part C, and D provide links to &q...

I'm a broken record. I suggest visiting The Queen Cutlery historical documents section, under "statistical reports", The "Series reports" has a listing of Queen pearl handled knives from 1980 - 2013. They have made the pearl 14 many times, and there are both "simulated and r...

I agree with Gino, #2. essentially because of the length closed and the squarish bolsters. You can check Queen Historical documents under "Advertizing material" for catalog images, or "statistical reports" for history of Model 2 production. The Schatt & Morgan numbers are usu...

Contact at Queen cutlery historical documents. My understanding is that they used bone as long as they had pieces to ...

Good stuff in 2015 catalog

Queen website has some really nice new knives in the 2015 catalog - lots in polished buffalo horn, some really nice stag knives, and introduction of Black Walnut handled knives to supplant curly zebra. My compliments.

I agree in the mid 70s. This is a nice one handles look good, blades are shiny, full - they often got used very hard and look it. I especially like the liner lock - twisting a screwdriver in reverse increases chances of collapse, if you are not deliberate. A good user knife. I have a pruner with a b...

It is certainly nice to win a knife. Show knives, often with a different blade etch, are found on Ebay later. My current favorite is the big two-blade daddy barlow #71, sans blade etch, that was the 2014 show knife. Another example of a big, capable knife. I am guessing that "farmer Jack" ...

Here is a Farmer's Jack, Model #29-in Burnt Orange Delrin - making it a 1959 knife. I was told by a reputable guy as I bought it. No blade etch on either blade. It is 4.5" closed and with spear blade open is 8.12." It has been used, sharpened and buffed. Half stops on both blades and very ...

That English Jack in stag is beautiful! My compliments to the photographer! Trying to collect a bunch of these queen classics is very tough - there are just not many around. Prototypes are a different matter, especially with the #000. That would be a very special knife. Queen has not made stag lockbacks in a long time and that medium (1500 pattern I think) is very nice. I've not carried it - the box makes it hard to get in and out of your pocket, but I would like to see...

Re: Is this a new type of stop on S&Ms or did Queen screw up

That is a pretty whittler, even with the pudgy handle, but those ripples on the base of the main blade do not look right and it should open and close smoothly -not "crunchy/gritty" Sloppy blade bevels - It should go back that is for sure. Always up to the owner, but I favor making the unsa...
