Re: Congress restoration
Ok who am I to doubt you? I am waiting on another magnifier so when it arrives I should be able to see something? Whatever happens it will be coming apart. I do want to clean it right up and put on some stag scales. Yes it has excellent snap on all blades. The knife has no wear on the blades I doubt...

Re: Basic Disassembly, Repair & Reassembly of a Jack Knife.
Dale, yep Australia ::ds:: we love it here. I get over to the USA every other year hunting so I can look around when over next year. Postage; actually it is cheaper for me to have a knife sent from the USA to Australia - average $3 - $4 than it is to have one sent from 20 miles down the road here ($...

Ok here is a couple of images. As I said I find it very difficult to see those pins. Oh and by the way I am surprised by the amount of scratched etc. on the bolster.

Re: Basic Disassembly, Repair & Reassembly of a Jack Knife.
Dale, yep I have another question, you used a .070" pin on the blade pivot same size as the one you removed. Where would I get such a pin, presuming that is the size required, I thought they were only available in 1/16", 3/32", 1/8" etc?

Re: Basic Disassembly, Repair & Reassembly of a Jack Knife.
So brass pins are ok to use on the blade pivot pin? I would have thought they would be a tad soft and you might be better off using something harder. Also you used 1/16' pins and state that the pins you removed were .070"........ 1/16" pins are .063" so you have .007" slop correc...

Re: Congress restoration
I'll be interested to watch your progress. I would love to make deer antler handles for a knife one day and install them on a special knife. For now until you get ready for the project, there are many ways to clean knife without taking it apart? As I still cannot see the pins in the bolsters even a...

Blade
Hi, I came across this blade on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/160855145209?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 (hope the link will open) I was wondering why the pivot hole in the blade is the shape it is. I was going to but it to make a lock back folder but now I am hesitant. In th...

Help with parts for Folder
Hello, firstly I am new to this forum and new to your fabulous hobby, I have bought a few knives of late so I suppose I have started already? I have a question, I wish to make a folder, a lock blade, around 4" handle length. However I have no experience, I am a professional taxidermist and have...
