Re: Old Fishing Gear

Thanks. That’s maybe half of it. The wife does not value any of it. Be a really good garage sale or dumpster to dive if I go 1st. Lol That is some great old gear, Kj. Very nice displays, too. It is kind of funny how, for one person, stuff like those reels is fascinating: and for another person it i...

Re: Question about Schrade-Wostenholm

Those blades do not look original to that knife. At least to me, anyways. the nail nicks look cut with a dremel wheel or similar I agree, Glenn. And it almost looks like you can see where the rest of the stamp (other than the T)was ground off. The stamps on the bolster do look like Schrade-Wostenho...

Re: Ornithology (Bird) Thread

Very nice shots of the Pelicans, Cormorants, and Heron, Doglegg.

Cool photos, Joe. I kind of think that those are the first photos I have seen of Starlings on this thread. Your photos show how attractive they can be.

Re: Birds - personal observations

It has been a while since I posted anything here. In a way, this forum mirrors my life: my enthusiasms wax and wane like the phases of the moon. Right now there are a lot of birds in my back yard and I have been really enjoying the activity at the feeders: just not posting anything about it. But her...

Re: Damn celluloid

I don't think this is Celluloid, but just checking. It is an Imperial. What say you? Celluloid. Ken I have a question here. Enuf's knife is a shell handle. I know, or perhaps think, that the cover on shell handled knives is some kind of plastic. I have never read that the covers on shell handles ar...

Re: Birds - personal observations

Nice photos, Dale. Our hummers departed in mid October. Some years a straggler or two stays around, but this year all left together. Since you are in Oregon , I guess an Oregon Junco makes sense. Boji - no snow here either - ever! I have a lot of Chickadees, a couple of Cardinals, a few Titmice, and...

Very nice photos, Ike. I now have quite a few Yellow-rumped Warblers, but no Goldfinches so far. Unfortunately Nuthatches never make it to my area.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

Does outdoor wine drinking count? It counts! If outdoor beer drinking counts then I can post photos here every day ... Here is a photo from a couple of weeks ago of a place that my wife and like to launch. It is about as outdoorsman as it gets in this part of the country. No one there except duck h...

Re: Birds - personal observations

Yellow-rumped Warblers are the most common bird in my area in winter. So far, there are very few in my garden. Nice photos!

When I went for my walk this morning there were a few birds in my front yard.

Interesting Turkey, Chickenman. I have never seen one of those Royal Palm varieties. Nice photos. Ike. I have not seen a Junco so far this autumn. And unfortunately it is still pushing eighty degrees here. Regarding the Peacock. When I was a kid we lived on an isolated hilltop farm that we did not f...

Re: Fake or not?

I have a switchblade I've had for years it's old ,how old I don't know. The blade is marked uppercase B over Rostfrei. I was on the website Stiletto-italiano.com reading about the Beltrame knives. According to this website the Beltrame family says a knife marked in this fashion is a fake. And that ...

Re: Dads old pocket knife

Hi team, can anyone identify these markings on an old pocket knife that was in mt dads belongings. Handle looks like mother of pearl. Thanks Welcome to the forum, Millsy. I think that your knife is a silver fruit knife. The marking would be British stamps verifying that the quality of the silver. I...

Great series of photos, Garddogg. Looks like a fine meal! By the way, I like the shotgun in your photos. I do not hunt these days, but I like seeing an old time gun like that New England Firearms instead of a five shot auto.

Re: Has the World Gone Insane? Is this a Sign of The End Times?

Delrin cover ie oldtimers rugged perfect for a user ::hmm:: The only stag I use is in a fixed blade hunting knife 😎 I have to agree that Delrin is as good as it gets for a user knife. Stag and bone can crack if dropped on a hard surface, and I do drop my knife occasionally. Did you know that one tr...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

I figured that they were pot bellied pigs and escaped pets. For one thing, around here, a wild (truly feral) pig is more wary than a deer. These swine, when I try to chase them out of the yard, look at me as if they cannot believe that such cruelty really exists in this world. No one seems to be loo...

Re: Birds - personal observations

Thanks, Ike, Doglegg. Kingfishers are common in this area, they choose prominent perches, and they are surprisingly hard to photograph. It is like they have a sixth sense that tells them to fly when a camera is focused on them. I got lucky with this one.
