Bulldog 3-7/8" Round Bolster Stockman

Hi to all. I would like to thank everyone for their interest in my knives. I hope the information is helpful. This group of knives has 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen, and a couple of unlisted knives. BKC #'s: 1. 141 stag 5 of 300 S&D etch regular issue 2. 142 stag 3 of 312 Pit Bulls Trademark etch regular is...

Re: Bulldog Cowboy's Pet 4" SS Stockman

Thank you for your interest and kind words. I just realized that I forgot to mention that 2nd gen knives, like 1st gen, have 1984 stamped on the sheepsfoot blade. That fact is what puzzled me and gave me the most trouble in my infant years of collecting. In all of my other postings of my collection ...

Bulldog Cowboy's Pet 4" SS Stockman

Hi to all. The Bulldog Cowboy's Pet knife is the only 1st gen frame with stainless steel blades that was regular issue. I have come across a two blade trapper, undocumented, that has stainless blades and the early Bulldog Brand etch. After consulting with some Bulldog gurus, it was determined the kn...

Re: A Bulldog to avoid

Hi, I have to agree with Tom, the handle material is genuine mop. The knife is a true 1st gen, is rare, and is an unlisted variation of a Bulldog Club Knife. The master blade etch should read Bulldog Club Knife not Pit Bulls Trademark. In my short experience with celluloid deterioration, the steel t...

Bulldog 3-5/8" Sowbellies

Hi to all in Bulldog Nation. It's been quite awhile since my last post. I have been fortunate and added to my collection, so I need to take more pictures. Once I do I will post. Thanks for your interest. The knives are from the 1st gen 3-5/8" Serpentine Stockman Tobacco Set, four 2nd gen stags,...

Re: BULLDOG GUNSTOCK

Great looking knife QS! The stag is A+++. I believe the knife is a 3rd gen square bolster stockman. Is there 1993 or surgical inst stamped on the tangs? if so, it will be a 3rd gen knife. The 1st and 2nd gen 3-3/4" gunstock stockman had a heart shield. The 1st and 2nd gen 4" gunstock frame...

Re: Need help Identifying numbered Bulldog knife set

Hi,
The knives you have are 1st gen and are set #1 of 8. There was 300 serial numbered sets made (#001 - #300). There was a few with no serial number and one each prototype ( no etch/no serial number). I hope this helps.

Re: German Bulldog knives

Hi Targetman,

What a fantastic collection! I need to take more time to look at all of your pictures. It is evident that you know what you want and it appears that there isn't any holes in your sets. Are they all complete? I sure like the 5 blade Anglo Saxon knives. Great job!

3-7/8" 2 Blade New Style Trapper

Here are the New Style Trappers. BKC #341, tortoise handle, is not in the pictures. I purchased one that was in rough shape from gassing, thinking I could bring it back to life but it was too far gone. There are some low run, unlisted and prototypes in the group. Top picture BKC # 1. 335 stag clip/s...

BULLDOG 4-1/4" COON STRIPE TRAPPER SET

Hi, I finally took some more pictures of my collection. In some of the sets I will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen knives and describe the differences. Other than Jim Parker's books, there isn't much information to help identify the different generations. This set is the 4-1/4" Coon Stripe Trappe...

Hi, My name is Rick (Zeke8) and I am looking for five Bulldog Brand knives to complete two sets. The knives I am searching for are from the 4" 2 Blade Moose Pattern Set and from the 3-5/8" Serpentine Stockman Tobacco Set. The knife numbers from the Moose pattern set are BKC #275 (Peacock e...

Re: Bulldog 3-3/4" Gunstock Knives

Hi Quick Steel, Great looking trapper. I like the smooth green bone handles. I have acquired several 1st gen celluloid handled knives over the last year. I have not had any gas on me personally yet. There are a few that show signs of gassing or were near a knife that gassed. I have a fear of them ga...

Re: Looking for a few low run Bulldogs

Thank you. Were you able to see the different etches from the book? I happen to have both the 3-3/4" and the 3-3/8" knives with the Pit Bull Terrier etch. I know of only two of the large frame and three of the smaller knife. In my opinion the two knives are the unicorn of the Bulldog knive...

Re: Looking for a few low run Bulldogs

Yes, the Coal Miner etch was released in 1982, and is considered to be a 1st generation knife. There are a couple other factors that separate the 1st release knives and the 2nd release knives I forgot to mention. Besides the release dates there are four different etches. The very first stockman was ...

Re: Looking for a few low run Bulldogs

Great collection! I don't think you will have any problems with the Bulldog celluloids if you store them in the way you have the rest of your knives. One other thing I forgot to mention, is to dampen a cloth with mineral oil and wipe the celluloid. This will help shrinkage and possible cracking. I h...

Re: Looking for a few low run Bulldogs

Hi Quick Steel, I have been collecting knives for 12 short years. I stayed away from celluloid handled knives for fear of what you mentioned, gassing. I didn't have any experience with celluloid and I didn't want to jeopardize my collection. Over the past year or two I have added roughly 30 celluloi...

Re: Looking for a few low run Bulldogs

Hi Black Mamba, Thanks for your interest in my knives. The first Bulldog Brand knives were produced from 1978 to 1987. These knives were labeled 1st generation knives by collectors. The first release or the 3-3/4" stockman pattern was in 1978 with a quantity of 28. This knife is unique in a few...

Hi emornes, I apologize for the late response to your post. I have many irons in the fire and forget to check my posts on this great site. Re: Looking for a few low run Bulldogs

Hello Quick Steel, Thank you. That is a great Anglo Saxon whittler you have there. That pattern is a handful of a knife. I have a few holes that I need to fill up in my 1st gens and I want to move on to the three and five blade Anglo patterns. I have picked up a bunch of low run knives throughout th...
