Re: Oil or Water Stone Magnet trick?

Would the metals in the blades absorb slightly into the
surface of the well used oil stone making it magnetic??

Got to think about this ................

Re: folding pocket knife manufactured on 8/7/02

Either go to a knife show this spring/summer and talk to a guy who has a load of new knives with
boxes or look on eBay doing the same. It will not be an easy if going thru eBay.

Good luck!

Re: Six Dozen Eggs And Two Quarts Of Honey

Ken, it has been quite a few years that I have read a narration and could not wait to see where it ended but at the same time really appreciated your writing ability and did not want to read it too quickly. Your story writing reminded me of a columnist that wrote for the local newspaper. I often wou...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

One more thing to add. In my 3 ring binder I have pictures of all
my knives. Since my collection is relatively small compared to
some, it is not too difficult.

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

This is a crude written version of what I try to keep. This is an example so model number isn’t real or anything else on this example. Please feel free to let me know if anything should be added or removed. It has been working for me for a while now. Would thickness of the blades be of interest? Ne...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

I think this question has been asked here before. I have had problems using Excel, so I stuck with using MS word. It gives a lot of flexibility , is easy to use, and the search function is easy. I store the information in a 3 ring binder. I started it when I had about 40 knives so the task was very ...

What Eric said is something to think about when buying horn handles.

I have always wanted a horn handled knife. Maybe not so now.

Got a new Schrade Scrimshaw`

7e56b0aeaa7dfb5f412ab6ab52129103-0.jpg I got another Schrade Scrimshaw knife this week to add to my collection. It is a SC505 half stockman 2 raccoons. This scrimshaw is the first new condition in the collection. For the new guys here starting knife collecting, you might consider these knives. I st...

Re: Pocket knife jargon questions?

I have a few knives that are really great looking but the pull is near a 10. If my nails are long and I have not done any hard physical labor I might be able to open it if lucky. Those times I bring a little index card to slip into the knife well. I tend to carry those when I think it is very unlike...

Re: Deepen nail nick?

I have a Case 5332 that had 2 nail nicks which were very shallow. I practiced on a few metal items using Dremel tools but it did not turn out good. A gentleman on this forum made them more deep. I don't know how he did it but I was very grateful. He has not posted since 2019 so I don't know how he i...

Don't worry about it too much. The main thing is to have some fun.
Probably neither of you will make a killing. If you get something you

Re: Question about repairs

All good responses in above.

I have found the vice method or squeezing adjustable priers work fairly well. Be sure
to protect the bolsters with thin wood, leather, or thick painters tape. Don't over do
it- I have sometimes gone a little too far and made the blades too difficult to move.
