Re: Read the knife, dummy!

I could understand the disappointment. The knife is not bad. Think of it
as an old well taken care of knife from Asia, not China.

Re: Anyone collect Watches?

I have a lot of watches also. I don't actually go out and collect them but I have quite a few. I also don't feel completely dressed without wearing a watch. There was a survey a few years ago and if I recollect, the majority of the members here are in the 55 + age bracket. I guess the majority of us...

I don't have any orange knives but they would not be misplaced.
That could come in handy especially outdoors.

Welcome Adam!

Knives rarely cause trouble. Too bad women
don't fit in that category. :D

You could have a pic of a beautiful woman holding your knife.
That would be bonus point. :)

If you could get a replacement blade and do a very mild clean up
I think you would enjoy the knife. It would still be your grandpa's
knife. Just a little improved.

Looks like a lot of work went into making the website. I like that
most knives are about the same size, same background, and all in
in focus.

Re: How does a small amount of wobble affect performance?

I would think moderate wobble or more would make the knife feel less secure in your hand. This could increase the probability you would cut yourself and make the cut less perfect if going along a straight line. Sharpness should increase performance . Difficult material to cut should decrease perform...

Re: Experiments in Patinas....

I was a little lost on the OP. I have found diluting mustard with a small amount of lemon juice works well. I leave it set for a small amount of time ( 5-7 min.), wash it off, then reapply until I get the patina I like. This composition allows me to apply the acid exactly where I want it. I am not m...

Would the metals in the blades absorb slightly into the

Either go to a knife show this spring/summer and talk to a guy who has a load of new knives with
boxes or look on eBay doing the same. It will not be an easy if going thru eBay.

Good luck!

Re: Six Dozen Eggs And Two Quarts Of Honey

Ken, it has been quite a few years that I have read a narration and could not wait to see where it ended but at the same time really appreciated your writing ability and did not want to read it too quickly. Your story writing reminded me of a columnist that wrote for the local newspaper. I often wou...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

One more thing to add. In my 3 ring binder I have pictures of all
my knives. Since my collection is relatively small compared to
some, it is not too difficult.

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

This is a crude written version of what I try to keep. This is an example so model number isn’t real or anything else on this example. Please feel free to let me know if anything should be added or removed. It has been working for me for a while now. Would thickness of the blades be of interest? Ne...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

I think this question has been asked here before. I have had problems using Excel, so I stuck with using MS word. It gives a lot of flexibility , is easy to use, and the search function is easy. I store the information in a 3 ring binder. I started it when I had about 40 knives so the task was very ...

Got a new Schrade Scrimshaw`

7e56b0aeaa7dfb5f412ab6ab52129103-0.jpg I got another Schrade Scrimshaw knife this week to add to my collection. It is a SC505 half stockman 2 raccoons.
