Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?

Launch 10 on yardwork duty.

Gotta admit, in auto form, small knives are MUCH easier to use, even as someone who normally only carries something this size.

Actually, 2021. I think Case only used the "tang stamp" for a year or two on the current generation before switching to laser etched stamps.

I have hardly any interest in "modern" slipjoints, but the Venandi is one of my favorites--light, well-made, and sharp. The thin blade gives it some ecellent cutting geometry. And, CRKT wasn't scared of strong springs.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

At New Graham: Looked at a ton of knives, and instead of buying 2-3 cheaper ones, I finally told myself to go ahead and buy the Launch 9 or Launch 10 from Kershaw (the two I really liked). Settled on the 10 because it fired a little harder, and the hawkbill shape allows it to make up for its small s...

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY

Went to a local junk/antique store today on a whim, and picked up a few things (mostly not knife related...) A very worn-out old sheath, which I believe to be from a WWII Ka-Bar. $8 paired with a very rusty Taiwan-made skinner. KIMG0218.JPG The Cat's Meow Harman Chapel--Bluefield College (well, Univ...

Re: Italy vs China Stiletto Switchblade

I’m not so sure about that. I think there may be some older knives with “flatter” springs. I’ve got a couple that have flatter springs but are just very light weight. The bolsters are rounded as Killgar pointed out also. Stainless,Milano,440 are words you see on China knives too. My Leverletto clon...

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?

Hard Hat lockback (same as Bear and Son 97) and Leatherman Rebar. Got the Hard Hat in the recent POS Exchange from Corn Creek Cutlery. It's slimmer than the 110, but has a palm swell in the center of the scale, making it more comfortable than Buck's official slim 110s. Some up-and-down play in the b...

Hard Hat Knives?

Anyone know what happened to Hard Hat Knives? The website is offline, and multiple business sites say the business is permanently closed. But, it doesn't seem like they've been closed that long. Google Maps seems to suggest that they were still operating last year, when the imagery (and Street View)...

Leatherman Rebar and a Moki-made Klein.

Went back to a flip phone, and I'm still trying to relearn taking up-close photos with one. Seems the Kyocera DuraXA camera is a bit of a step down from the older DuraXE.

Re: "Diecast Collecting"

Just ordered this one from a Japanese seller off eBay for $5 shipped--Tomica's 1:300 model of a Hitachi EX8000 mining shovel. Now comes the wait. Chances are, it will be the cheap, non-tracked method. eBay says the 20th, but it's a crapshoot. I've had it be as little as ten days, but as much as six ...

These are sort of weird, as they aren't really made in Solingen--as I understand, they are (at most) assembled in Solingen with Chinese parts.

Kinda coordinated today.

No, I don't work for Jennmar, but my Granddad did a lot of business with them. He got the hat from them, knife came from a guy in the mining industry a few years ago .

Reining Horse Knife?

I was ordering a few random Schrade parts from a retailer (largely to fix a busted Tough Chip--which had more than a few issues), and came upon these shields. S295.jpg Posted this before I found the actual knife, so I edited it. Found they went to this trapper, issued in 1996. Definitely one I plan ...

Re: What reason for rope blade shape?

Admiralty law "back in tbe day" of wooden ships and iron men stated that sailors were forbidden to have a knife with a pointed blade. If a man was found to have a knife with a pointed blade, the ship's Master at Arms would break the point off the blade. Perhaps from fear of mutinous mayhe...

Re: Odd Or Unique Places You Have Gotten Or Purchased Knives

Community college.. VA law says you're not supposed to have anything bigger than a 2.5" blade on a school campus, a rule that no one cared about; or batted an eye to. Only one or two people did not have a knife on them in my class--and I started with small folders, then switched up to the same ...

The Clinch River I got from you in the POS Exchange has performed wonderfully, and definitely punches above its $50 price point. It's also got such great edge geometry, it's one of the first "full size" knives I can honestly say will do little knife/detail work. Been trying to find a Hawkb...

Probably made by the same company in Japan, but I don't think they were the same company.

Sabre was a trademark of Cole International (who owned Kabar at the time), but I don't know about YCC.

My new RW Loveless designed Beretta. I have had a black handled copy for several years, and they are excellent knives. This orange handle would actually be a better field knife than the black. Exactly, I think (though mine had a small bail pinned to the butt end).

New York Knife Question

I noticed Cooper Cutlery is currently making knives with a New York Knife Co. stamp; which as I understand, was one of the companies that, eventually, became IKAC/Imperial Schrade Corp. I am wondering, was it a trademark that stayed with Schrade until '04, or was it something that lapsed? As I'd ass...
