Thank you ken98k. You are right - only the owner of that bicentennial rifle is missing the knife.

Browning Model 55 Fixed Blade - From Browning or Custom
I recently won an auction on this Browning USA Model 55 (1969-1970). It is a fully engraved Sportsman Series Hunting Knife with checkered handles. The Mark side blade is engraved/etched with a large spread Eagle, with a ribbon that says "Browning Arms Company, USA." The Pile side of the bl...

Re: Germany "DELSTONE" Solingen Knives.
It looks like a Browning 2318F6 Sportsman II (Made in Germany). I can't help wondering if Delstone made these for Browning.

Thanks for the replies. Ken, for what it's worth, I was speculating the same as you - why waste a nice piece of vintage stag that had been pre-drilled. Thank you. Mark

Extra holes in Scales of Case XX USA V5220 Bearhead Peanut
I recently purchased a near mint Case XX USA V5220 Barehead Peanut and the scales have an extra hole in the same place on the Mark side and the Pile side. There is no pin in these holes that stop at the brass liner. My question is, what is the purpose of these two holes? They appear to be original f...

Re: Could this be a knockoff of a Browning?
Your knife is genuine. The first two Browning pocketknives were introduced in 1971 (Models 2518 and 3018). The early USA models had a match strike nail nick, but in 1973 they changed the nail nick to the regular style nail nick. They eventually switched production to Germany and then to Japan. I che...

Yes Wayne, I am sure the scales are wood. You can see lots of grain with a 10 power loop.

What do you think about this Browning Folding Hunter
I do not believe this is a genuine Browning knife, but it is so well made that I just can't call it a Frankenstein knife. It resembles a Queen folding hunter, especially with the Saber blade profile, but the blade is stamped Browning over U.S.A. on the mark side of the tang, and it looks genuine to ...

Re: Help me with this Case EZ 49 (CV) date
That was my first thought too, and that may very well be the case. However, the Case Tang Stamps guide for this pocket knife shows a total of eight (8) dots (not ten). I would expect one dot to be 1999 and two dots to be 1998 and both should be visible. The seller shipped this in the wrong box so th...

Help me with this Case EZ 49 (CV) date
I have a yellow composition Case EZ 49 1993-1999. There are no dots, so is this an early 1993 before dots?

I have one EZ opener, goldstone cellulite with a badge shield just like two of yours in the photo, only without the bail. It is stamped with a two line "Imperial Providence" on the mark side of the tang.

Different Case Tang Stamp
I recently purchased a Case Pattern # 0EX263 SS Eisenhower pen knife with Exotic Himilayan Ram Horn scales. The tang stamp is not listed on any of the standard product line guides that I have. It is stamped CASE XX with one x. The box is dated 1/21/10, but the serial number of my knife is 179, but t...
