Re: Scagel Series #8 Stag Barlow- Value?
Mandy those are from the Dave Shirley era of Northwoods knife co. When a lot of his knives were made by Queen Cutlery Co. but most of the Scagel branded knives he would contract out to custom makers. I can't say who made that particular model but I've seen many of the Scagel models sell for over $45...

Re: For those (like me) who were/are not aware.
I have some great memories from Sears. I worked the gas island at the Midtown Atlanta Sears and Roebuck in 1970-71. I was 16-17 years old and had a real curmudgeon for a boss. He always told me If it hadn't been for that pole standing there I would have never known you were moving boy. :D I was a r...

Re: Case XX Kodiak
I realize this is an old thread but I had mine out this morning cleaning and wiping it down so I checked Sargent's 7th edition trying to determine if I could narrow the manufacture date to one more specific than I had already determined, which was 1973-79. That's a fairly easy observation since the ...

Re: 8318?
Harold, Sargents lists only a sheepsfoot and spey combo in pearl for a tested 8318. The pearl on that one looks a little oversized as well.I'm not real comfortable with that tang stamp either. Looks like a cold stamp.

Re: New member asking what do I have?
The bottom line is that knife was made by Queen for Northwoods knife co. somewhere between 2000 and 2008. The file work on the back spring was likely done by someone else and the written number on the box indicates the succession in that secondary customization. Dave Shirley did use some custom make...

Re: Help me with this Case EZ 49 (CV) date
Tang stamps for 1990 thru early 1993 don't look like that. You likely have a 1999 there with one dot that is impossible to see. Copperheads are notorius for hiding dots under that oversized bolster.

Re: New member asking what do I have?
I'm wondering about the file work on the back spring. That's not something I've seen on the early Queen Northwoods knives. Perhaps River Raisin knife co.purchased a few of these and did that work.

Well I see this knife is up for sale on ebay now. My sister's freind apparently didn't take my advice to start the listing at $400 and let the knife move to it's market value. She started it at $1195.

Ruana knife?
I got a query from a friend as to what she should sell this knife for. I've never owned a Ruana and wouldn't know what their value is or even if it's real. The picture is not great but I thought I would check with you guys and see if anyone might have some info.

Remington Silver Bullet Grand Daddy Barlow made by GEC
I saw this at SMKW and thought wow a GEC made knife that is available from the dealer. Probably the last one I'll ever see. So I bought it. A little pricey but I love a grand daddy barlow. Can't wait to get it.

Re: Are the CASE XX item numbers important?
The only thing that I can think of where it might be helpful to know these numbers would be if you were trying to refill an empty display case of a special set of knives. If I recall correctly Case uses the item number on these display cases. Other than that I think those numbers don't have much ext...

Well let's face it fellers, most people who post here looking for a value are not well versed in buying and selling knives so they are looking for a quick, easy answer from a group that they think should know. Something I noticed just the other day while scrolling through my emails, I had a couple o...

Re: pattern numbers
I would suspect that the numbering systems used by many companies are strictly for internal company record keeping if they ever kept any that is. As knife collectors we all know that the abscense of of written records is one of the things that confounds our search for answers in historical chronolog...

Re: Camp Lejeune Water Issues commercial
I think that every Marine or subcontractor that suffered from that period at Camp Lejeune should be compensated for any sickness they had. I'm afraid though that this fund was set up for the benefit of trial lawyers and they will wind up with nearly one third of the money from this fund. I hate to s...
