Re: Remington "Baby Bullet" lockback question.

Thanks for the reply, Lenny.
The tang stamp reads" R1173L over 1984. On the other side it has the circle with "Remington UMC" in the center with "Made in USA" around the outside.

Remington "Baby Bullet" lockback question.

I recently came into possession of a Remington "Baby Bullet" lockback, R-1173L. In my "Remington Knives, Past & Present" book, they state that the knife had Delrin scales and the knife pictured has a lanyard hole. My knife has genuine bone scales (Yes, I'm quite sure it's bon...

Wow guys....I didn't mean for this post to get so out of hand. I was only pointing out what I considered some very poor workmanship. I'm in no way a "bladesmith", so I'll just let it go at that. I was under the assumption that opinions, unless unnecessarily mean spirited, were welcome. See...

I guess I should count my self as being among the lucky ones. My #23 Primitive Bone has the 2006/2007 transitional blades and is numbered #13! And yes, she sleeps with me on many of these cold wintery nights when my wife is down in Boise working.

Thanks for sharing the "history" behind this huckster. No pun or connection to you intended HUKK!

The fastest State Trooper on earth!

In most of the United States, there is a policy of checking on any stalled vehicle on the highway when the temperatures drop to single digits or below. About 3 AM., Montana State Trooper Allan Nixon #658 responded to a call there was a car off the shoulder of the road outside Great Falls, Montana. H...

So....if no one else bid on it, and a guy could get it for say....around $50.00 or so, it might be a good one for a novice to try and do some re-hafting on with some gnarly elk antler, eh? ::shrug:: What would kinda' scare me though....after seeing what the outside looks like, who knows what it look...

I don't mean to be overly critical of some's work, but this looks like a good example of how NOT do to custom work on a very nice knife. I'm certainly not qualified to be much of a critic on knives, but at least if it were me doing the work, I would have AT LEAST placed the mosaic pins in vertical/h...

Taxes

The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion" ($1,000,000,000.00) in a casual manner, think about whether you want the "politicians" spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figu...

GEC Primitive Bone knives are very scarce!

I have a friend who saw mine and is frothing at the mouth for one of his own, so I did a very thorough search, on all the AAPK stores here and on E-Bay....with ZERO results. Looks like they've all been snatched up, either by collectors or dealers who are waiting till the prices escalate dramatically...

I've got a single blade Zytel handled knife made by them....actually made in Taiwan....that I keep in my EDC rotation. It's small, about 3" closed and light as a feather. Sometimes, I actually forget I've got it in my pocket. It's a lockback with a semi-drop point blade. It holds an edge very w...

Case "Hobo Knive"

In our little town here in the mountains, we have a small hardware store. They have a knife display case with a variety of knives. Today, I noticed a nice looking Case "Hobo Knife" with a spoon, fork and knife blades. Light brown jigged bone scales. I was in a hurry to get parts for my sno...

It's 4:30 a.m. I just couldn't go to sleep thinking about this dire situation in the U.K. So....I think I might have a solution to help make Great Britain a much safer invironment. I think they should also ban baseball bats, croquet mallets, golf clubs, golf shoes, pencils, pocket knives of ANY size...

Well, I'd like to think it was just an oversight on the part of the person packaging the items. David Anthony's book arrived in good condition....and I might add one heck of a book. ::tu:: I was greatful for the freebies....and I never look a gift horse in the mouth!

GEC Blade openers

In the package with my repaired GEC primitive bone knife were four complimentary gold colored knife blade openers with the tang stamp "Great Eastern Cutlery" over "Titusville, Pa.". along with David Anthony's new book. A great gesture from GEC, eh? I'm going to keep one of the op...

Hukk, good response. You are very articulate. Dewman, next time a Samurai sneaks up on you, forget about the PW sword. Empty the Glock.:-) My son-in-law carried his as a neck knife, just an auxillary. He already had a workhorse I had made him. Glock? Naw....I'll just send my wife out after him! :lo...
