Re: First Cup Diner!

Don't remember exactly. Quite a while. It's just west of Belvidere, maybe a mile or two. Good 'Q' From what I found on the web the place opened in 2002 or thereabouts. I know we had to have rode past it at least a few times and can't imagine we passed a sign with barbeque on it without stopping to ...

Re: ...august 6, 1945............

I don't recall the year other than a span of 1952 to 1954 but at one point (and I think it was 1954) that my grade school class was given the book (in paperback) "Hiroshima" by Hersey and it was pretty much required reading. We were also practicing the duck and cover drills. Across the str...

Re: Vintage yoyo's

I had several yo-yo's back in the day. One was a Tournament (I think), one was an Imperial and another was a Butterfly. Those are the names that come to me and there may have been other models but all of them were wood. I liked the Butterfly because it would walk-the-dog really nice until one day it...

Very nice, Monk. ::tu:: We had grain matched Birch doors in my high school. All were very pretty, but in a few one with a vivid and prurient imagination could see sexually oriented displays. Re: computer down

For the most part Linux is a GUI (graphic user interface) version of Unix which is/was CLI based (command line interface). Most people probably first heard of Linux via the movie Jurassic Park; the system running the park was Linux based...supposedly. Unix was a kernal/shell operating system where t...

Re: Vintage working BB guns

If anyone is interested I ran across a couple of neat ones today at a collectibles shop in Washington. A Daisy Red Ryder and Little Beaver number 750 of either 1000 or 1500. And a NRA special BB gun that looked like a Winchester 94. They were high priced but not off the charts. moss Was that Red Ry...

I'm not Tom but, during my years on the links, I found a near infinite number of ways to deteriorate a golf ball and they never seemed to get a chance to age much.

The real shocker was he had been on Monkey Mountain just outside Da Nang only he was in MACS-4 and I was in Bravo Btry 1st LAAM Bn. There probably wasn't a total of a thousand guys on that mountain from the time Bravo Btry moved up there in about June or July of 65 until MACS-4 left the mountain in...

Well sort of. I was born in and went to grade school in Evansville but that's been 60 years ago. Missed ya by about 20 years, Jerry. In '78-'79 I flew into Evansville on my way to Morganfield, KY to install, program and start up a machine. I was the only person to get off the plane but found that l...

I'm going to try and find a local retail store that would be willing to take them all on a consignment deal. I'll get them sold slowly over time and not make as much if I sold them myself on Craigslist but at least they'll be out of my hair. The lures and tackle I can handle on eBay (lureauthority ...

Re: Vintage working BB guns

That's a pretty good air rifle for the money and looks to be in good shape. Just don't "dry" fire it else you might cause damage to the piston and/or seal. You're right in thinking you can get over 1,000 fps out of it but that would be using light pellets like PBA's or others under 7.5 gra...

You're the first person to notice that. That's what approximately 10...

That's really cool! Did ya get the shells with it? I've got a couple of cork guns that are fun until the cat runs off with the corks. If you listened to WGN at night then you probably heard Franklin McCormick's show at some point. After years of listening to him I finally got a chance to meet the man in the early 60's. He was the grand marshal at a local towns parade and festival and our radio club was providing commo and assistin...
