Re: Bought a Buck Collection

The 531 (bottom picture) looks like a rare Sawby by the lack of a mid handle lock release. That is easily a $200.00 Buck. Some of the others are desirable too..

Re: Have to ask the Buck guys ...

A alternative would be to just have one made. Leroy Reamer and many others would be glad to make it. You end up with a true 1 of 1 and the cost might be less than a bidding war on Ebay. Plus your choice is endless.

Re: Buck 112 First Generation

Just look at the end of the rear bolster and if it's all brass it's a V1-V1. The box ,paperwork and especially the shieth are valuable too. The very earliest shieth's were made with modified 500 leather shieth and will show a 500 stamp. Extremely rare and worth looking for. I have seen a V1-V2 also ...

Re: Buck 110 DB

Absolute best thing is to go on Ebay and look at complete listings. Then you can see what they actually sold for. I think if it had a BIN price less than $200.00 it would go fairly quickly..I know 112's better than 110's but since I look on the bay often I can say it I don't see very many Damascus b...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

Finding one of your 'Grail' Bucks is a great moment in collecting. But there is a little sadness too that the great hunt is over. I've looked for one of the BG42 112's from Bucks reblade program in 2003 now since 2008. I had just one in my hand in 2009 but it was in a beat up ratty brass frame AND a...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

Pictures can be deceiving so don't take offense..I have collected 112's since 2007 and in fact won the single model award from the BCCI 3 times between 207 and 2014..Drop point 112's have a very small footprint before 2012 after which SFO's and LE's made them more available. Because S30V is a very r...

Re: Pro Series Buck Knives

I have just one Buck I actually use in S35VN and I am absolutely impressed with that steel! Its a 112 Pro Plus and it was the sharpest knife of any kind I have ever owned. Scary sharp! Even after months of light use it is still very sharp. For many years I looked down at 'Steel Snobs' who paid somet...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

I've been off the forum for awhile..Great to be back! My absolute latest is a rare and odd 112 (That's what I collect and display) The blade is a Drop point semi mirror polished S30V with Bucks 'Custom' tang stamp on the front and the S30V stamped (not etched) on the back. Nickel silver frame with g...

Re: Buck 112 Drop Point Blade

Up until 2014 or so drop point 112's were extremely difficult to find. SFO's since then give us many more opportunities to get one. The very first DP 112's were modified 500 blades by Chuck Buck himself and Leroy Reamer back in the 80's and all had a Custom tang stamp. The 450 model Buck is a popula...

Re: Greetings, Everyone...New Guy Here

I forgot to mention that the BCCI electronic membership is only $10.00 a year and is absolutely the best deal in the world of knives period! The BCCI Website contains a vast amount of information but my favorite part is the Special project lists and 20 plus years of the newsletter..

I have a 112 I received from my Brother David with that blade. At the right angle you can see the Ghost of the Workman pad print. I have never actually used it but it's a odd 112 for sure! Leroy Reamer did the work..

Re: Buck 500 series

My very first Buck was a 503 and it really did all I asked in a knife for many years. The wife snapped the blade trying to open a can of peas but since this was 20 years before I started collecting Bucks it was tossed in a junk drawer and lost. I collect 112's and in my research on early drop point ...

Re: David Yellowhorse. The beginning.

I have a early 'Lacy' 112 with a satin finish blade before he used mirror polished blades directly from Buck. One of 16 to 18..I read a add in a old online gun forum and contacted the poster entirely online. I ended up sending a postal money order and a return postage paid envelope to a PO box in Ne...

It's a great place here for Bucks! I've learned a lot feel free to ask anything..I collect rare,odd,1of1 service award advertising 112's. Since you like Bucks consider joining the BCCI if for no other reason than to have access to the vast body of knowledge on the web site. Welcome!!

Re: Little help please

Look on the very end of the handle and if you can see the ghost image of a round circle half the size of a dime it is a barrel nut construction and is pre 1963. After that the handles were pinned but I don't know how to tell that type for sure.

There is a flood of complete fake auto 112's coming out of China. Round button file work and a realistic tang stamp. Be careful with any that has a round button. One giveaway is the shieth..no Buck on the snap

Re: When did Buck start stamping stag knives CUSTOM?

The only way to know for absolute certainty a Buck is a Custom is if it has Custom shop numbers..I have never heard of that being faked. But again not all Custom shop knifes were numbered. But I believe most came with a letter. I collect rare,odd,1of1 112's and have only seen a handful that were num...

My very first Buck was a 503 Prince and was the only knife I had..My wife KathyJo snapped off the blade opening a can of peas. I had no idea of Bucks warranty but kept the handle for years till one move it was gone. The 500's are surprisingly well suited for EDC use and disappear in the pocket. I st...

Re: Ever tempted to start using one of your old mint knives ?

I have a term I use ..DUC dress up carry. I collect rare,odd,1of1 and prototype Buck 112's. Out of about 80 there's about a dozen I consider myself to be a caretaker of Bucks history with and feel no need to use. I admire them and occasionally display so other collector's can too. I do like to carry...
