My first Benchmade was also a 556. I have since added several more, so be aware you may find yourself down the same rabbit hole with a lot less money in your pocket. ::shrug::

Re: Great Knives-Little Money

Well after reading this somewhat sad/laughable thread, I can only say one thing: "If I could find RR knives up here, I'd buy one just for spite and piss off an American". I'll have to buy more Kizer, We, Reate, Civivi, Bestech, Artisan... Oh and I'm glad GEC "put Queen out of business...

Re: Ask and

Awsome. I've only made a couple of knife slips for my mini trappers and one for my Olight i3t and they work great and sort of look ok. I now can see how the big boys do it and when I make the next batch, they should look "sort of" better. Oh and thanks Bryan for the new sub forum. Wait, fo...

It's that da%$ed axis lock that's to blame. It makes the knife into a play toy. I can't stop playing with them. It's too addictive...

Re: Any one still a fan of Benchmade?

Yup and if I didn't already have all the BMs that I wanted and certainly do not need nor can justify any more, I'd gleefully run out and buy another one. I also don't give a rats @$$ about guns or what is done to them so what BM did for the Portlandia cops, couldn't possibly care any less.

Actually, I found the opposite. I will sharpen a knife and it's "ok", but leave it for a couple days, and I swear it seems sharper somehow?

WOW. ::drool:: It's all I can really say. colin.p: I'm not sure if your comment is in reference to the ivory knives (the emoji drooling over the beautiful ivory), or my long-winded diatribe on prohibition (the emoji drooling because he fell asleep from sheer boredom). But, regardless of how it was ...

WOW. ::drool:: It's all I can really say. DAY 107 Today's lesson, boys and girls, is about the basic economics of supply and demand. It's no secret that when a government, no matter how well-intentioned, bans a popular commodity, it doesn't necessarily reduce the demand...in fact, often, prohibition...

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper

Yah, up here, new ones usually run in the 70 -100 dollar range, even with our intentionally deflated dollar. The only problem, I find, is that traditionals (especially Case, and GEC is totally unheard of) is a PITA to find in Eastern Ontario. :?

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper

There is a meme that says something to the effect: "You know you're getting old when you think the "90's were only 10 years ago". I will post a crappy picture of my only mini trappers, a normal Case jigged amber bone, and a Carhartt single wharncliffe. I really must add to them. Oh an...

Fascinating history. I do enjoy reading about the history of "lost" settlements. It's also interesting to read up on old long gone cutlery manufacturers. ::tu::

Re: My New EDC ( Kizer )

Nice knife. Unfortunately I don't think that model is available up here. However, I bought a Sliver a couple months ago and it is a very nice knife (albeit a rather slim design that makes it somewhat a challenge for my old arthritic hands to hold on to). I had to order a new clip from Kizer, as I br...

Re: Why do we collect pocket knives? What reasons motivate this hobby?

I am a self-described "serial collector". Over the years I have had numerous collection hobbies: coins, model trains, audio gear, yo-yos (really!), knives, etc. I'll go hot & heavy for several years, then the fever cools and I'll switch to something else. I usually don't collect more ...

Re: Benchmade Slip Joints

Even though I have a few s30v Benchmade's, I honestly don't use them hard enough to notice any difference between them and my Spyderco's in s30v.
From what I've read on the forums (on the Internet so must be gospel) Benchmade does a very good heat treatment on their steels.

Nice knives, especially the wee peanut. What with mammoth covers, it's almost as old as me. I didn't realize you did the work on these, very nice and thank you for the opportunity to own one of your works.

I agree. I have both the small and large Vantage Select. Even though the small doesn't see too much daylight anymore, I do have the large in my EDC rotation.

Cool, and looks real nice. However, I always wondered about leaving a slip joint knife partially open for prolonged periods. Wouldn't that weaken the back spring?

Re: Grohmann Mini Russell Lockblade R340S

Just picked up a Grohmann Lock back folder. Nice little knife, but had to file down the kick as the blade stuck out of the handle a tiny bit. I also just made a couple of knife slips, one for my 4" folders and a smaller one for my 3 1/2" mini trappers.

I have an idea: Trump could tell Trudeau that he would remove the steel tariff if Trudeau would allow (perfectly legal) knives back into Canada. Seems simple to me.

Ever see a completed auction on the internet that makes you scratch your head? I found this one recently and if anyone can clue me in to which knife is wort...

Re: How Old Are You?

I voted 60-69 (I'm 63). I only really got interested in accumulating knives in 2017, so the three Case knives I own were bought new along with a a dozen or so of modern/tactical folders. Other than the really budget (junk) knives, they are all users. Oh, forgot to add: I really have no particular in...

I only have three Case knives that were all purchased in 2017. They are my first "nice" traditionals, however I do have a couple SAK's that I have carried for years. I carry my single wharncliffe mini trapper everyday at work and my other two bladed mini trapper I carry when I go out (gent...

Re: What do you EDC?

This is my first ZT and the last 0450cf that my local knife shop had in stock. Now that the border clowns are making up laws contrary to our legislated laws and calling any one hand opening knife a prohibited weapon thereby confiscating them at the border, the guy at the counter said that ZT may be ...
