Re: Sharpfinger design
Here it is, paired with it's sheath. It took me some time to get back to normal after my shoulder surgery in May. I've picked up a few more blanks and stabilized burl scales to make more knives. This one was sent to my step-son, who should get it tomorrow. I collected a few orders while on the mend ...

Re: In need of a few prayers, please.
I've never been the type to get addicted to pain meds or alcohol...I drank in my younger years prior to becoming a father, rather heavily and frequently, and walked away from it without a single craving. I've had some pretty strong and addictive pain meds in the past and was able to quit just as eas...

Re: In need of a few prayers, please.
Surgery went well. They removed the bursa and bone spurs, as well as a portion of bone that caused impingement. While in there, they found a minor tear in the rotator cuff, along with two other tendon tears that they repaired. My arm is in an immobilizer sling, and I'm trying to wean myself off the ...

Going to the doc in about an hour to find out if my lungs cleared up enough. I'm praying that they did, and that he clears me for this surgery on Friday.

My ugly mug. The facial hair is only slightly longer and more gray now...this was a year ago. It came to be part of my life around the time that my daughters began dating. It's scared a few fellas off, but not all of them.

I've got a Camillus 10D Box on Ebay
As the title states, that's where it is. No knife or paperwork, just the box. I try to usually have something on there, so feel free to follow.

Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
If the sheath is original, I'd lean more towards 1976, due to the single strap style being like the first two revisions of the Sharpfinger sheath. Mine being the second revision sheath, it would put it in the same date range of 1976.

Nice job. I've got an old one we picked up at an estates sale last year...previous owner was 2nd generation butcher. It's in poor shape, and someone took a grinder to it, not knowing what the heck they were doing. I'll eventuall get to doing something with it, I'm sure. I highly doubt it will look a...

A few of my submissions... A pair of Sharpfingers, a few revisions apart 20170322_103639.jpg And close enough to count. The fixed blade was actually sold with the Kamp King at one time, with a sheath to hold both. I've paired these together, and am looking for a sheath that will work 20170508_153148...

Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
Here's two of my favorite fixed blade pattern of all time. One is a second revision with change to the sheath strap from pointed tip to round, and the other is one of the last revisions, with half serif font and strap change. I'll eventually get my hands on other revisions, but this is what I have f...

Have a bit of an update. I went breezed through all my pre-op testing last week, and had a final pre-op visit with my PCP for clearance. After 3 years of not smoking, I thought I saw the end of my asthma issues. Not so...It seems that my asthma decided to kick in at the worst of time along with bron...

Re: Spare motor for direct buffer question.
After weighing price and desire to get started before next week, I decided on getting a double arbor buffer from Harbor Freight for now. I'll still get the arbor adapter for the motor I have, but will do that in a few months. I've got a few things that need polished up now instead of later. Price fo...

Beauty! Coming from you, sir, that means something! I admired the one you did where you made the screwdriver blade into a bottle opener...I thought that was a perfect use for that blade. I hope to one day be able to copy the same thought process on it, if you wouldn't mind. I'm sure my first won't ...

Here's the final product. It didn't take as much tung oil finish to get to this point as I thought. I'm excited to be able to give this to him next month.

Re: Spare motor for direct buffer question.
I've got a small belt driven grinder like that in a box somewhere, but it would be too small for what I'm wanting to do. I just checked on Ebay and found a couple that look promising. I'll go with the arbor and use it direct til I make sure the motor will handle the constant run and some resistance ...

Re: Spare motor for direct buffer question.
Thanks for the answers. I have a spare grinder pedestal that I'll be using it with instead of a bench. I'll use a piece of wood between the motor and pedestal since the holes don't line up. I have an old rubber welcome mat that I'll cut and place between the motor and wood to absorb any vibrations t...

Spare motor for direct buffer question.
I have an old Power Poise motor (115V, 4.4A, 1/4 HP, 1725 RPM) that I'd like to adapt into a direct drive buffer/polisher. It has a 5/8" shaft that I can mount an arbor to. Not knowing much about motors and such, do you think this motor would be up to the job of polishing some of the older blad...

Thanks for IDing the material. The knife is large, probably too large for me to carry comfortably in a pocket. It's truly a working man's tool, made by a working man...which, to me at least, makes it even better. I'll eventually locate another for purchase, I'm sure. I'm in the process of trying to ...

Hearing these perspectives as to what happened to their trade reminds me greatly of what happened to mine. I started in the tool and die trade at the young age of 13, working for my dad. For the first few months, I swept floors and cleaned machines, while watching the "old guys" work. Thos...

BTW...that will be the only peace symbol I ever have in my house. If you can't read it, around the symbol are the words "Peace Through Superior Firepower". Preach. ::handshake:: My dad was a Vietnam Vet (65-68) and his welcome back home after 2 tours was less than ideal. He made sure to l...
