Re: My wife is awesome!

I love good quotes that I stumble upon every now and then. My wife relayed this one to me the other day............... "Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid." --- John Wayne.

The Duke comes through again.

Re: Air Rifles

Charlie, after seeing your target results another thought occurred to me. I do not know how familiar you are with air rifles, but I had to learn this: each and every air rifle will "like" certain pellets and not "like" others. If you are just using what came with the gun or some ...

Re: Air Rifles

You might, also, check your scope. Spring (break-barrel) air rifles are notorious for throwing scopes off that are not rated for a springer. They actually sell scopes rated for break-barrel air rifles that can withstand the forward and backward recoil. Yes, springers do undergo forward and backward ...

Re: How to tell “in advance” that bone handle will absorb oil

I use Coon P oil, and it is the best oil I've ever found for knives. I cannot speak to the bone discoloration as that has never happened to any of my knives, but it seems that would be more attributable to the porous structure of the bone and I surmise that any oil would discolor those particular bo...

Amen, brother! I quit some time ago. It doesn't make any kind of business sense to leave hundreds of buyers in the lurch by creating the artificial scarcity you mentioned. Kind of strange.

Re: Did You Ever Lose Your Knife?

I've only lost 3 knives in my life, and I can remember where each one was lost and which knife (I'm 63, now). Climbed through a barbed wire fence in the woods when I was a kid and lost my old, cheap fixed blade (I think it was made by Imperial). It fell out of the sheath as I went through the barbed...

Re: Smoky Mountain Knife Works

Thanks for the clarification on the knife eraser. Makes sense. I didn't know they made those types of erasers for knives. I, too, have used the No. 2 pencil method on rust spots on knives (the graphite end of the pencil) and it works pretty doggone good. Used it on old gun barrels a time or two, as ...

Off-gassing celluloid is a knife eraser......... Although, he is probably really referring to a knife with a small pen blade that could be used to scratch away ink if a mistake was made in writing? Maybe?

Re: Hunting with airguns UK

Interesting, Mr. Grumpy. When I grow up, I want a job where I'm paid to shoot squirrels! I, too, eat the "limb pork" as we sometimes call them over here. The gray squirrels (known locally in East Texas as "cat" squirrels) are slowly pushing out the larger fox squirrels. Aggressiv...

Re: Hunting with airguns UK

Grumps, that's quite an arsenal you have there; all high end stuff. Do you have problems with the North American gray squirrel? I understand it is over running parts of the UK. Glad you have an outlet for your hunting urge. I think I would go crazy if our powder burner gun rights were taken away, bu...
