Re: Will Flitz Remove Blade Etch

I'll use this Krakauer stockman as an example, I believe this to be acid etched. Is this a candidate for a manual application of flitz with a microfiber cloth?

Will Flitz Remove Blade Etch

I've never been a Flitz or a Semichrome user, curious if Flitz takes an etch off a blade if you try and remove some of the surface staining/grime using Flitz

Thanks Gene, I believe its 4-1/8". The larger stockman "premium" frame?

Re: 4 blade stockman most recent find

Yes it is the Union Cutlery proprietary punch blade. It isn't very concave like most, one side is convex with more of a chisel grind and one side is flat.

Re: are bobc mechanisms difficult

Is the back spring normal? It looks odd,too high at the blade. Maybe it’s broke? Pin broke? Yes I know its worn out, it is a button open button close mechanism, it doesn't have a lock plate - the rocker goes all the way up and meets the tang. Without seeing the inner workings, I believe it is like ...

are bobc mechanisms difficult

I have this recent find, the button close mechanism won't retain the blade. Its in nice shape overall despite the bug bite, the pin is very stable at that location.

Re: Trying to correctly identify this blade

It looks good to me, I wouldn't do anything with it. It's an early New York City brand importer. A nice and rare one. The daylight between the scales and the liners has more to do with a slightly bent liner but if it doesn't impinge the spring/blade from firing I would leave it be. Some people apply...

Re: Leverletto that I found thrifting. Need help identifying.

I don't know if the stamp is authentic, but it looks like it says "KLAAS" in a crown, with "ROBT KLAAS" underneath. That would be Robert Klaas, a German knife seller known for the Kissing Crane brand. Mr. Klaas also used a three pointed crown as a logo. The term "Rostfrei&q...

If a shop was set up to make picklocks, their equipment wasn't worn out, and they could compete financially-what would be the impetus to change?

Re: 60s era Italian Stiletto variety

I believe the Martinuzzos in Maniago made the Kissing Crane coil spring autos. Bill! There's a small "earless" lockback model with stag covers for sale in an AAPK store that looks very much like the one in the picture, and the seller described it as coming from the Belgian market, does th...

wouldn't a picklock have been replaced by a swivel bolster by the very early 60s?
