Re: Handle Variations on the 119?

Two rare handles found on the 119.
1961 White Melamine
2017 Experimental Black/Red swirl Phenolic. I'm thinking about 100 sold thru SMKW.

Re: Buck 119 with black anodized blade?

What would be the correct sheath for this knife? Your knife can be dated specifically to 1972. 1972 was the first year for the 3-line tang stamp. The stamp was inverted, switching to upright in 1973. As already said, the original sheath would be a holster style (flap over). I think 2 different shea...

Old Hunter gave you the answer above... 1972.
3-lines inverted is unique to that year.

Re: Camillus made Buck’s

Schrade initially made the 301 and 303 and was replaced by Camillus early on. Buck took over production of the most popular models 301, 303, 305, and 309 in late 1985 All other model numbers listed were made only by Camillus, some well into the 1990's ending with the 334 in 2000. Variations of the 3...

The 505 Malachite was a limited edition knife offered in the 2001 general catalog.
The catalog did not list a quantity nor have I seen a number listed anywhere else.

Re: Buck 810.

These were in the Buck catalog in the 90's as part of their WorkMan product line. These are the variations I can recall off the top of my head. Serrated and not serrated. Two slightly different handle shapes Colors, gray, black, and a scarce red version for Snap-On. Packaged in either a box or a cla...

Re: Greetings, Everyone...New Guy Here

Last I heard Joe Houser was heading up the Buck Knives anti-counterfeit effort. He would at least know who to direct you to at Buck Knives. OH The baton for the anti-counterfit effort has been passed from Joe Houser to Tony Wagner twagner@buck knives.com Joe Houser is still the historian but I thin...

Re: BUCK KNIFE - UNKNOWN ORIGIN

It's a model 727 "Battling Bucks" knife. It was the 2003 WalMart Christmas issue in a fancy tin with two "Battling Bucks" on the lid. I think the original price was about $20. First time I saw one I thought it was a fake. I just searched "Buck 727" on ebay and there wer...

Yes, I like the new Alumni, I've already got my pre-order in for all 4 colors.

There are now 12 different model numbers all sharing the same 1 7/8" blade and locking system. They are 425, 505, 506, 507, 515, 524, 525, 526, 527, 529, 825, 826.

Re: Imported Buck canoe question

I have two of the Buck canoes, new in the box. Never have used them, but they are made sturdy and nice. One thing that put me off is the blade steel is something like 420 J2 or something, not regular 420 HC like American Bucks. This other steel is pretty far down in quality on the steel charts. 420...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

I used to think the same thing but in an online purchase last year I bought a Buck 303 that turned out to have a China stamp! Since it was a 303, I had made the same assumption about its origin and probably paid too much for it (still on the order of $20ish instead of the $10 I'd normally e...

Re: Bucklite 422

The 422 BuckLite is first seen in the 1984 catalog (keep in mind the 1984 catalog was prepared in 1983). Concerning dots....understand that dots are NOT date codes. Buck used them as engineering change codes to identify a process/material change. Even Buck is not completely sure about the usage of d...

5,000 Model 500 Statue of Liberty knives were made. There were also over runs using the same blade but a plain birch handle with no medallion.
