Nice work, I've seen some really cool stuff made from RR Spikes.

Another Collins Machete
Local auction had this Collins Machete. With the fancy sheath, I thought it was some sort of tourist attraction knife. But, it had the correct stickers on it, and the Collins Legitimus Crown and Hammer on the back side. I'm going to use this one to chop and score Autumn Olive before spraying them wi...

Thanks, I'll send pics to a friend. He was big into reenactments back when a lot of guys were still carrying originals.

Socket style triangular bayonet?
I collect all things Savage. Last week I won the bid on a 1920's Savage toy wooden ball shooter, rifle. Taped to it was a triangle socket bayonet. I can't find any markings, and it's pretty rusty. But, it's not bent or mangled. I'll get pics as soon as I can. I'll probably donate it to the monthly g...

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
Nice Rich!! ::tu:: Purchased this True Temper Maul, loaded with rust and cleaned er up. Took a couple whacks with er and said, man this rascal is heavy. Weighed it on my postal scale to discover......it's a 10 ib. maul!!!! Couple years ago when steel got real high, I filled two mud buckets up with ...

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
I couldn't find the original pic to post it, you have to go back to page 24. Someday my Axe Collection will be mounted around the edge of the ceiling.

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
I went back to see when I posted my first axe. On page 24 I found the pic of my future hunting cabin. Take a look at it now. I have newer pics I haven't added yet, but it's coming along, Joe

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
Couple years ago I got a real nice Norlund, I posted pics of it. I got in a bidding war with another collector. I ran into him all over the State of MD. He out bid me on every nice axe I wanted. When this one came up I told my cousin I was only going to $15 on it, then I went up to $25, $45, I think...

Re: January 2023 AAPK Monthly Forum Member Knife Giveaway
I donated a big fishing knife a few years back, and the guy that picked the number for it had won before. He lived in Russia. The knife hinged like scissors for cutting bait, had a saw edge on the back for cutting bone and was about a foot long, with Zytel handles. I asked him if it was legal to shi...

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
Well, there is no thread for bill hooks... that I know of... But here is a nice True Temper I found a while back. I am not sure what the S.P. CO is exactly. Possibly it is S.P.Co; The Southern Pacific (reporting mark SP) (or Espee from the railroad initials- SP) was an American Class I railroad net...

Re: MONSTER SHEARS
I found this, "PRR in the Keystone", at a farm auction just over the MD line in PA. I opened the bid at $5 and thought I had it. Just as the auctioneer was pointing at me and getting ready to say sold, an old Amish farmer went $10. I figured I was done, those Amish folk do not loose at auc...

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
Actually, you could take a flap disc on a die grinder and polish all those divots out. It would look like a polished piece of chrome, and then blue or brown it. I found a little Plumb boys axe head that looked like a solid chunk of rust. Not particularly liking the polished effect, I browned mine. i...

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
I picked this up the other day a flea market. I hate it when people try and "fix up" an Axe and end up messing it up like this guy ::uc:: did by trying to take the rust off with a grinder ::dang:: then badly fitting the wrong type of handle to it... ::facepalm:: I'm with ya on that. I hat...

Re: Machete Collins Legitimus #871
Cool Collins machete, Rarefish. I worked as a land surveyor for a few decades, and Collins 24" machetes were my favorites. Seems like they became unavailable about ten years ago. What with carrying one every day and me being a bit absent minded, I left a few in various patches of woods. This o...

Re: Machete Collins Legitimus #871
I know the auctioneer and was giving him heck for putting the two knives together as one lot. He laughed and said he figured I'd be bidding on the Collins, and that was the only way he could get anything for the frost.

Machete Collins Legitimus #871
I'm a collector of Collins axes, and pretty much anything else made by Collins. I was at our local Tuesday auction preview and on the first table was a kind of rusty old Machete. I really wasn't interested till I saw a Black Label on it. It was a Collins! I turned it over and it's a Legitimus. Only ...

Re: Anyone Collect Axes & Hatchets?
I don't collect them, but I found this really small hatchet head so bought it for my son. Have to find someone to make a handle for it at some point though. It measures 4 1/2" x 3" (razor blade for scale) Go back to page 19 and there are a bunch of pics of the little Plumb from a chunk of...
