Picked this little knife up today, marked No. 82 Tenter St Sheffield. 4" closed. I love the fat scales! Has anyone a guess at the age of this knife?

I measured again, just to make sure, as it has been known for me to get it wrong and this time I came up with 2 3/4" so the length is probably somewhere between the two!

Re: Vintage Knife Haul!

Thanks for you appreciation guys; I found these at a 'Car boot fair', here in the UK, I suppose you'd say Car trunk fair! They're good places to find old stuff, in fact the vendor had some more in a box, so maybe I'll see if I can find him next week and buy the rest! ::tu::

Hibbert & Son folder

Not posted for a while, but I found this little gem and had to share! 2 5/8" with a 2 1/8" blade. Pistol grip. Blade looks to have been blued and is hollow ground. Lovely horn scales. I thought the blade had been shortened, but there is still some blue on the tip, so looks to be original. ...

Re: Rodgers Bowie

Whilst still searching for a maker for this knife, I came across a piece on a Bowie marketed by Graveley and Wreakes. The cross guard is different, but the rivets and material of the handle look to be the same, as are the style and dimensions of the blade. Any thoughts?? http://thefifthfield.com/swt...

Re: WW1 Era Harrison Bros & Howson Navy Folder

Uncle Bob, are you in USA or Britain ? And i have never seen any pattern or model numbers associated with old Navy knives. Is there a book you can recommend that covers vintage Navy folding knives ? And which country issued this knife for their Navy ? Or are you using "Navy" as name of th...

H.OSMAN & Co BOWIE

Picked this old Bowie Knife up at the weekend. The blade is marked H. OSMAN & Co with CITY below. I cannot see any other markings. Any ideas on this one? 12 1/4" overall, with a 7 3/4" blade. Thanks.

Very Old English Folder

Found this old folding knife at the weekend; 4 7/8" long, with a 3 3/4" blade. There are traces of letters/numbers on one side and what looks like a Whale/Fish with initials on the other side of the horn scales. There are no apparent markings on the blade. The bolsters are integral with th...

WW1 LA BALKANIQUE?

I have been lead to believe that this little knife was bought back from France at the end of WW1, by one of my Great Uncles, whom served in the Highland Light Infantry. The hilt is horn and the blade has 'Le Balkanique' inscribed on it. The knife is 7" (170mm) overall with a 3" (70mm) blade'

Re: FRENCH SWITCHBLADE ?

Many thanks, brilliant job of finding my knife, STANCAIMAN! Douris Chastel it is! It's good to hear that the story of my knife being a WW2 'bringback' could be right! I have another French knife, that has been in my family for over 100 years (allegedly) so I'll do a new post for that one and see if ...

Re: FRENCH SWITCHBLADE ?

This is an automatic knife, with a leaf spring in the recess for the blade.
There is a number on the blade, but it doesn't seem to flag up anything relative on the Patent site; 624.473

FRENCH SWITCHBLADE ?

I found this interesting knife at an Antiques Fair; the seller said it had come with a WW2 British Officers estate. I believe it is French, with INOX one side of the minimal ricasso and Bte ***** on the other. It's a little worn and doesn't close completely, but the spring mech works fine. It's 8 1/...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

This is a late '50's, early '60's Wilkinson Sword Royal Air Force survival knife. It was in dire need of a light restoration and the scabbard had suffered some what. The later versions of this knife are even more heavy duty. Although no longer issued, they are being reproduced (in varying quality) D...
