Anyone recognize this old beauty? The only marking on it is "Made In USA". It is 4 and 1/4" overall closed with steel bolsters, liners, and pins.

Re: 2024 POS Exchange
The last knife was the best of all. A beautful stag handled old jacknife with a really unusual main blade. I had a hard time seeing the tang stamp but finally with the help of a magnifier I could read it. NASH Hardware Co, Fort Worth . I couldn't believe my eyes. Nash Hardware started in the 1870's...

Re: 2024 POS Exchange
I got my box from Thomasg today. First thing I did was to sanitize, pasteurize, homogenize, and otherwise the box before I opened it. After I did open it I discovered a really nice assortment of EDC knives, rebuilders, and parts knives as shown below. I am claiming the title of "Best Box Receiv...

Got the group in from Corn Creek Cutlery today. Can't say many are a POS. IMG_20240325_155413.jpg Hard Hat USA (Bear and Son for a promo products company in KY) 5' lockback (same as Bear and Son #97R). Doesn't look to have been used much, and a Buck 110 nylon sheath that fits it well was included. ...

Re: Wilbert Cutlery
OC: Am I missing something or is the nail nick or pull on the pile side of the main blade? Can't see it in the pic. That's different ?? J.O'. That is correct. That's why I say it is the victim of some previous work and it would be good to see an old Wilbert camper to see the correct orientation. Th...

There's an article in the April issue of Guns & Ammo magazine by Keith Wood about the departure of Wayne LaPierre as the NRA head. Basically they are saying " good riddance to bad rubbish".

Re: Wilbert Cutlery
I picked up this 3 and 5/8" bone handled Wilbert over the weekend for a couple of bucks. I always buy Wilberts when I see them regardless of condition because you don't see them often. This one has been the victim of previous work, the rocker pin is now a nail, clinched over on the mark side, a...

Re: Japanese "Sabre" Brand Knives
I have several Sabre knives, tang stamps include Japan, Hong Kong, USA, and China. I did not own a Sabre Ireland until I found 2 of them for sale on the same table at a local gun show. One is a 2 and 5/8" pen and the other is a 3 and 7/8" stockman. Both are shell handled, and as you can se...

Re: Case 75 blade bevel
I picked up this 2 and 5/8" pen for a couple of bucks at the gun show recently. It has a Sabre, Ireland tang stamp, first one I've seen. Interestingly it appears to have the "new grind" on both blades. Was this most likely a product of the Jowicka plant in Ireland that Imperial acquir...

Re: Broken, Battered, Beat-Up, Bruised But Beautiful Old Knives
How about this old Wilbert for being beat up and abused. Note how the rocker pin has been replaced by a nail and the nail bent over on the mark side. Some one also tried to serrate the blade. I bought it for a buck because it has one useable blade I need for another Wilbert. IMG_5561.JPG IMG_5560.J...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?
I think this question has been asked here before. I have had problems using Excel, so I stuck with using MS word. It gives a lot of flexibility , is easy to use, and the search function is easy. I store the information in a 3 ring binder. I started it when I had about 40 knives so the task was very...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?
Up to now I haven't kept a log of my knife collections. I plan to start keeping a record of individual knife info, etc. Any ideas as to what would be a good format or logbook? Thanks I use a loose leaf binder and put the pre printed forms I make in it in alphabetical order. That's what I'm gonna tr...

Also there are choices of stainless or carbon steel, wood or bone handle material in various colors. Belt sheath or none. Many variations exist.

Re: Broken, Battered, Beat-Up, Bruised But Beautiful Old Knives
This Western States sleeve board jack would qualify as abused by looking at the way the blades have been sharpened over its life time. Still has real nice bone and a bomb shield. The master blade has a swayback and the pen blade has been broken and reprofiled. Still sharpens up good and carries good...

Re: Any VALLEY FORGE collectors ?
I recently fixed up this Valley Forge 3 and 5/16" junior stock knife that had deteriorating plastic handle material. Unfortunately I forgot to take a before shot, but trust me it needed some work. Rehandled with black linen micarta. The blades had some chips and uneven sharpening which was stra...

Surely has had some bad sharpening done on it for most of its life, but should be worth that.
