Thank you. Yes she is fine. They removed a 35lb mass on her ovary. Thankfully biopsy came back clean. No cancer. Just has to heal now.

Re: Removing unwanted etching on blades?
On my user knives. I like to smooth and flatten them out. I prefer the new lines to run the length of the blade. The machines at the factory go across the blade. Eventually the blade etches go away. You can see this one was in a low spot. This is because I use a flat plate. If you use a soft backing...

Re: Your one big regret
Gaining back 140 lbs after loosing 70 lbs. I’ve lost 40, but I’ve got a long way to go. It would have been easier to just keep it off. Music? I wish I could play, but I gave lessons and honest effort and came to realize I’m not gifted in that area. At least I tried. It made me appreciate those that ...

Re: Swiss army knife whittling for a beginner, okay or big no?
Ideally if you are whittling at home a roll of dedicated fixed carving knives are a joy to use. IMG_6326.jpeg These flex cut knives are a good starting set. Notice the blades are short the handles are long. This gives more control. If you are away from home use whatever is in your pocket. When I whi...

Find old pocket knives with carbon steel blades. Alter the blade shapes thin them a little. Have fun.
The stainless blades on a SAK won’t stay sharp as long as a carbon steel blade.- Sun Mar 10, 2024 12:10 pm

Nice finds!
It’s so strange that the 2004 knife seems so new to me.
In 1990 if I found something from 1970 it would have seemed old.

I’ve never and would never try it with a pocket knife or with salt water.
If you have a digital smart battery charger it won’t work. You need an old school analog charger.

Re: Using DC current to remove rust
I used washing soda, not saltwater. It works on line of sight to the electrode. So it is best to have the item surrounded by the electrode. Googling electrolysis for rust removal will lead to a ton of information. You are basically plating backwards.

Re: Oddity
I like the looks of it. I’d have to hold / use it to make a final judgement.
The biggest thing with antler handles, is the indexing. The blade has to be in the right orientation when it is being held comfortably.
I think you nailed it.

Re: Standard knife company little valley folding hunter mint
It’s beautiful.
In a case like this I often wonder if its too stiff spring is the reason it is in such good condition? Whoever bought it didn’t use it. If it was easier to open he would have used it more.

If it is just a couple drops, usually they will sort of pop off if you pick at them.
If the handle is fully coated you will have to use some kind of thinner to strip it off. Maybe the cirrus stripper? .
