Re: What reason for rope blade shape?

I’ve also heard the story about them chopping through lines with a belaying pin on the rail. I also had my doubts. But I can see it happening in an emergency.

I’ve been looking at something similar for my stainless commander. Extra nice! Thank you. The guy who made them had to stop making grips and was liquidating everyth...

Re: Sharpening Wheel

I have a similar one in my driveway. It’s just an ornament now. But it’s not going anywhere. I believe they work pretty well for axes and such even if not round. They turn very slowly. You hold the axe steady and you will skip over the low spot. A lot of them have a flat spot. There would be a tin t...

You guys are doing great! I hope you find a good filister plane If he wants to add another product to his portfolio. My son came to me looking to make a headphone stand. I made him draw it out first then we made it. 73284362910__FB38C31C-EAAC-4C8E-ABE5-18210DECE8E2.jpeg The dowel holds his headphone...

I have owned a number of those Kutmaster rope knives, some serrated edge, some plain edge. Here is one that I sold recently on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256357814796 You'll se a lot of various brands of rope knives with WALL ROPE advertising. This one also has PT JUDITH FISHERMANS COOP etched ...

Those are some neat knives. Here is some interesting info about where the slogan came from.

Re: Case auction knife

I'd bet it isn't Case. My best guess is that the knife is a WW 2 vintage Navy Mark 1. The knife has a steel guard which is a key to war time production. The shape of the pommel suggests manufacture by Geneva Forge. The sheath appears to be original, although left-handed. I guess that is about all I...

Canal Barge Kutmaster

Found this on Ebay. For $1 + $7.95 shipping It was listed as “Knife and Sheath”. Not very descriptive. My bottom feeding trick is when I have a few minutes to kill. I’ll search “knife”. It returns about a billion results. Sort by ending soonest and start scrolling. This one had 20 minutes to go with...

Re: Empty sheath seeks compatible mate

I still think it would be a miss match. The 2 blade hunters that have sheaths that I have seen are pointy on the bottom and the knives go in tip down. It just seems like the wrong shaped sheath for that knife but a quick eBay search for 6265ss shows they came with both styles. I suspect that sheath ...

Re: Pocket knife jargon questions?

When I see an older knife that looks like it was not used much and it has a hard pull. I tend to believe that is the reason it wasn’t used much. 0 flops open, 9 breaks nails 10needs tools to open Every thing else falls in between. It is interesting that you don’t want either end of the scale. You do...

It was made between 1974 and 1980 inclusive.

No reason to disbelieve the signature. I’ve seen a lot of them signed in the same way. Chuck would be at knife shows and would sign any Buck knife you had.

Re: Removing unwanted etching on blades?

On my user knives. I like to smooth and flatten them out. I prefer the new lines to run the length of the blade. The machines at the factory go across the blade. Eventually the blade etches go away. You can see this one was in a low spot. This is because I use a flat plate. If you use a soft backing...
